I read this as saying that he/she thinks credit card payment is less prone to fraud than debit card payment.
Is that not the same as direct debit is more prone to fraud?
No - 'direct debits' and 'payments by debit card' are two totally different things.

No, because it says "debit card" not "direct debit". So far as I can see, OP never mentioned direct debit, but someone responding did. This was then confused with debit card.sheramber said:I can't find this in the thread. After having dealt with thousands of payment problems over the years the biggest cause of issues was people paying with cards as they invariably missed payments, paid late or paid the wrong amount. Can't ever recall a single case of any fraud at all. Direct Debit is by far the best way if possible as it reduces the number of problems.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.1 -
Credit card surcharges have been banned since 2018. If the site accepts credit card then the cost will be the same.ollieu1900 said:Hey,

Are there any additional cost for using credit card on the council tax website?0
