Working from Home Rebate & General Tax Query

in Cutting tax
Hey everyone, thought I would give the background to my queries as they are quite specific to my situation:
- I was made redundant in July last year. At that time I applied for JSA, and also the working from home tax rebate as I worked from March to July from home.
- I phoned up the contact on the gov website when it said my tax rebate was completed but I hadn't received anything, they advised me it was still in progress. As of today, a year later, I have had nothing back. Someone said to me it has something to do with me not working?
- Once my initial JSA ended in January, they told me I had to pay tax on it, but I've yet to receive a bill.
- I haven't worked a day since last July and expecting to start a new career end of September.
- Before redundancy I was a higher rate tax payer.
- I did apply for Universal Credit on Feb but received nothing between then and now due to having income protection insurance keeping me afloat until September.
So based on the above my questions are:
- Should I be chasing my working at home rebate in case I lose this?
- How does the rebate work given it covers 2 tax years - 2019-20 & 2020-21?
- As a higher rate tax payer in Scotland, my pay up to my redundancy and including the pay off didn't come to the 40% cut off for the 2020-21 tax year, so would they be due me a rebate, minus any tax accrued as part of my JSA claim?
Any pointers or advice would be much appreciated

You should get a calculation covering all elements (including the WFH amount for the little bit of 2019:20 I think) this summer.
