Does anyone know whether Microsoft still offer 2 months refund on FIFA points purchases. Or whether you still need to be an adult to enter into a contract for necessary services from them.

The context for the question is that I found over £2,000 worth of fifa points transactions on my 15 year old sons bank account within a 3 month period. Unbeknownst to us, he had used his debit card as the payment mechanism.

We are being sent around in circles by both Microsoft and the Bank and are getting nowhere. Microsoft are adamant that the purchases were made by him but the spike of activity would lead me to believe it is fraudulent activity.

I was hoping for advice on potential recourse so I can recover some or all of the monies lost

If they are on his XBox account then they are almost certainly not fraudulent. Have you actually asked your son?

You might get a gesture of good will out of them, but that is rare. He has purchased the virtual currency over a sustained period, there appears to be no fraud. If his account is an adult account then it depends who set it up (but someone lied and entered an incorrect DOB), if it is a child account but he had the password then you can not prove it was not authorised either. If it is an adult account and you tell them he is legally a child they will close the account, lock all digital purchases and potentially blacklist the console itself.

What I suspect has happened, as it is usually the case in these circumstances, is that your son willingly made these purchases, which ultimately means it is going to be an expensive lesson for him.

If you son had legitimately spent £2,000 worth of fifa points then no they are less likely to refund you,

if his account was hacked and they used his card then they might refund you the money
