What Small DFW Things Will You Do This Week 26/07/21?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning folks
Dawn - glad that your OH doesn't have covid - perhaps a nasty insect bite on his foot? I had one on the back of my leg that was fine for a few days then suddenly went bright red and very hot.
Little bit of an improptu garden party at the neighbours last night but I was very restrained and came home at 9.30 to get to bed so I could be up for the gym at 5.
Starting as I mean to go on this week. Today's small things are:Cycled to the gym instead of driving
Working from home
B/L/D from stores. OH will eat lunch at his mum's
Feed all the pot plants/baskets as didn't do yesterday
Bit of knitting
Have a good one all

Afternoon CLF (and any lurkers)OH seems a bit better today, no temperature, and I have been making him do things, instead of sitting watching TV all the time. No idea why he has started to do this - all the sport that is / has been on perhaps, but not good! He is one to always have some project on the go as a rule. I wondered about an insect bite, as I have several itchy ones atm, but he had a proper temperature, shivery one minute, really hot the next, which is why I panicked about potential covid.Today's achievements:Dog walk (just me and the dog again)Resowed a row of carrots and beetroot that had been dug up by a bloomin cat
I think it belongs to new people a few doors down, and it hasn't met the dog yet. Most cats are bigger than him, and he only runs and barks (from a distance, he isn't brave at all), but that is enough to put them off coming into the garden. Anyway, I have scattered teabags sprinkled with olbas oil to put it off digging up the seed bed again, and laid the old pea sticks across.
Gave the basil plants a good haircut and made loads of pesto, most of which is now in the freezer.Fed everything that needed it.Pricked out chard and perpetual spinach seedlingsTidied the front gardenSent back a couple of t shirts that are way too big, for a refundQuiche and salad for lunchRM surveys stuff. I see they have sent me enough reward points for a £5 Amaz*n voucher, for doing an extra unaddressed mail survey.I was going to make a risotto for dinner, but ran out of parmesan making the pesto. I will need to go to Lidls and get some more tomorrow. We will have jacket potato and tuna salad instead today.2 -
Morning folks
All a bit of a mad rush in this morning as I had to wake OH up at 5 to 8 to take me to work (we are supposed to leave at 8!). I didn't check on him before as he's always last minute.
Very spicy workout at the gym today. Very tired from it!
Today's things:B/L/D from stores
Corner OH and decide when we are going to do a taster at the potential new gym (our usual one is sadly closing)
Cycle part of the way home. OH to meet me with the car
Water the garden - not required now as apparently it bucketed down at home
Call my mum as it's her birthday
Kntting
Have a good one all

Evening allHope you feel better soon @jadewest94Working this afternoon and it was busy, but got a few things done before / after:Dog walk, just me again - OH's foot is getting better slowly.Usual quick kitchen / bathroom / general clean and tidy upSummer pruned my minaret fruit trees - they look much neater now. Pretty decimated by aphids though - only a few apples will be any good, and no cherries this year. But there do seem to be quite a few pears. The pear tree, along with the dwarf quince, doesn't seem to be affected much, if at all. I will try grease bands on the affected trees next year. It seems to be ants that transport the aphids onto the trees, and the grease might stop them. Worth a try.Cleared up all the prunings, cut up and put in the compost binPicked some rhubarb, a courgette, a few runner beans and a couple of handfuls of raspberries and loganberriesCooked rhubarb in the SCNo watering needed (except for the big bean pots) as it has rained heavily todayMade corned beef hash and griddled courgettes for dinner.3

Thanks @DawnW it's annoying because I can't stop coughing but it's a cold.
Today I will
Check freezer see what meals can be made
Pop into Lidl and pick up one of them £1.50 veg boxes as I've always wanted to try them
Make bread!
On another note, I'm honestly looking forward to my week off at the end of the August!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe boards and spending & discounts boards. Afternoon folks!
@jadewest94 - I hope you feel better soon. Summer coughs are rubbish. Esp at the moment!
Not much going on here. I am WFH but we are currently doing training with someone in Newfoundland so we don't start til 1pm. I have been working through training examples in the morning but it's a slow start.
Really off my cooking at the moment so if anyone has any quick summery store-cupboard recipes they woold like to share, I'm all ears. I have lots of ingredients... all the usual herbs and spices, pulses, pasta, rice, LOTS of potatoes...
MSE things today:B/L/D from stores
New driving licence arrived - into my wallet
New garden waster sticker arrived - straight onto the bin
Feed next door's cat
Bit more prep work in the big bathroom for painting - house feels like a tip at moment dt all the stuff that needs sorting after the window men came
Have a good one all

Mad weather here... hail stones the size of peas lashing down on and off. Thunder, lightning, the works.
Since we had the leak last year in a storm, it makes me very nervy if I'm honestLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.311 -
Evening allDon't seem to have done much today -Walked dogShopping at Lidl'sFridge shrapnel for lunchFinally received the bill for the electrical work done as part of our conservatory replacement. Paid it immediately. Not moneysaving, but it was well overdue. I may want to use the electrical firm again (though not the conservatory firm).Collected dog's flea and wormer tablets from the vet, and dosed him up (anything goes down well wrapped in a small piece of cheese
) No additional payment needed as it is included in his 'pet club' subscription along with his annual vaccinations. Works out cheaper than paying individually for these things.
Picked the first French beans, and yet another courgette or threeMade mushroom risotto for dinner. Loads left for tomorrow.Weird weather here too CLF, no hail, thunder etc, but strong winds and bouts of torrential rain that seem to come out of nowhere, and warm sunny bits in between.2 -
Afternoon folks
@DawnW - I'm with your doggo on that. Cheese is life.
Feeling a bit funky today (probably hormone-related!). Dragged myself to the gym this morning for 6am, only to find that there had been a mix up with the keys and we couldn't get in.
OH has had his second jab so I think an early night for the two of us
