Change Santander Mortgage Payment Date

Hi all, we've got a Santander mortgage approved and we're due to complete soon (fingers crossed!). It's looking likely we'll exchange on the 31st August.

I have two questions I'd like some help with please (Santander don't seem to have this info online that I could find). 

1. 
If we do exchange last day of Aug, will my mortgage repayments therefore be expected on the last day of every month? Next payment 30 Sept?

2.
Could I change my payment date to the 1st of October say mid-month Sept? 

The reason I'd want to do this is, is I get paid last day of month so would like a bit of a cushion of a day or two between payday and due day.

Hi we are also exchanging on the 31st August but our lender is taking the first mortgage payment on the 15th of the month after - so 15th September then it goes to my preferred date after that which is the 1st, so next one will be 1st October
