Property in a long void period

Hello! Looking for advice on where I can cut costs. I’ve been trying to switch to a BTL on my flat but have been refused because I haven’t got an acceptable EWS1 form yet (to do with all the cladding related issues). Consent to let refused on basis that I won’t be moving back soon.

I’ve accepted that there’s going to be a very long void period - is there any way I can save money on council tax, utilities etc? I’ll be contacting council about any exemptions (not holding breath there)

Can I just cancel my contract with the electricity provider? I saw on an old thread about renting out to photographers but not sure if that’s even allowed in my case! Any advice would be very welcome.
