No Appts available for "Giving Notice".

Hi Everyone. Daughter had to rebook wedding from Oct 31st 2020 because of covid and she rearranged it to October 29th this year. She was advised today to book the "Giving Notice" appt in her area, so she has gone online but there isn't an appt at all before Oct 1st this year. She will phone them in the morning, but has anyone had any experience of this? Are they able to give emergency appts? Or does it differ from County to County? My daughter suffers form anxiety so any help would really help. TIA.

Not sure what this means. Is this a registry office asking for the appointment?
if not who is the appointment with?0 -
Giving Notice is done at a Registry Office at least 28 days before someone can legally marry, it's the quivelant of Reading the Banns in a church wedding. So she has to book the appt at the Registry Office. But as said there are no appts, so she can't give notice and if she can't give notice she can't get married.

We struggled to get an appointment too due to it being such short notice (original venue cancelled 6 weeks before, we managed to find another venue for same day but giving notice was v last minute). We could go to any office in the county and we actually went separately in different locations due to work commitments.I suggest your daughter phones them. There’s plenty of time before October 1st so I can’t see why they can’t accommodate. Good luck, it’s so stressful at the moment and not everyone gets it (i had so many people say why don’t you just go to a registrar office and the pub- well yes but the issue is the notice!)MFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Thank you. I thought the whole purpose was that it was notice in your own county? Presumably you were told this by your actual Registery Office and you didn't meet with any problems at the ones you ending up going to? Also presuming you still had to make an appt ahead of time though?

@bujin any update on your daughter?
Sorry I wasn’t clear in my post and only just came back to it- yes we gave notice in the county we live in but were able to go to different offices. It’s a large rural county with 7 town halls spread across it that all open part of the week so was a bit of a logistical nightmare as we were so short notice, it worked though and we got married last week.MFW 2021 #76 £5,145
