Training course refund?

Hi all,

So, I booked a training course through the Knowledge Academy via a distance contract. I could not commit to a course date but was told if I didn't book the course that day I would miss out on the sale price, and that I could pay for  a flexi-pass which would allow me to  book  on a course at any date in the future and still get the sale price, so I booked the course. Since then I have been offered a new job which does not require the qualification that I have paid for, so I attempted to cancel the course and claim a refund, bearing in mind I have received no service or goods at this point at all and have not even booked on to a course as such. I was told by their representative that flexi-passes are not refundable under any circumstances and are not even eligible for the 14 day cooling off period? I have to add that this is already beyond the 14 days cooling off period, but was not provided this information until, when I look back through correspondents received from them, after I had paid?  Am I entitled to a refund? I do think I have been mislead.

I don't think you have been misled.

Their terms and conditions are readily available and quite clear that their Flexi passes are non refundable and non cancellable.

Changing your mind about a service because your circumstances have changed is not the same as being misled.

Standard pressure sales tactics - no different to the “last room remaining” tags they put on hotel websites.

Do they do another course you would benefit from instead?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

It might help us if you explain why YOU feel you have been misled?

I can see on their website, linked in another post, your course is not refundable, so i can see that clearly HOWEVER are you saying this was not on their website until after you booked?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

No longer wanting to undertake the course is not generally a valid reason for a refund.  The fact that the flex-pass is non-refundable is yet another reason they won't refund.  It's beyond the 14 day cooling off period is another reason.

It's no different to entering into any other agreement where it states 'non-refundable' e.g. hotel accommodation.
