in Cutting tax
Hi, firstly sorry if this is in the wrong place. Me and my girlfriend start a PhD in September (officially our student ships start/first payment is October 1st) however we are moving into a flat on July 31st, now I’m pretty sure as students we would be exempt from council tax, but does that apply to the first two months of us living there? How would I go about dealing with this? Will I just have to pay the first two months

You can only get the student CT reduction for the period when you are actually students. You'll need to pay normal CT rates until your course start date, then you can apply for the student discount.0
