Is marriage certificate void ?

My friends daughter has recently got married and she had her ‘stepdad’ on marriage cerificate, but he actually isn’t married my friend, they have been living together for 30years, and he has raised the daughter. 
Friend is now panicking thinking marriage may not be legal.
Can anyone she’d some light n this ?

No, it won't affect the validity of the marriage but it will confuse family historians in the future.

My grandfather did the same and it took a fair bit of sorting out from the family history side (he was too young when his father died to know the truth at the time).

Using 'Step-father' makes it sound like she already knows.

I was presuming it was the "father" entry that was filled in with the "step dad"s name - but the words "step dad" do not appear on the certificate...

That would be a situation where she may be aware, and think of her "step dad" as her father, or she's not aware of her actual parentage.
