This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone.Rosy - how was the cake?
Ruby - I hope you're all feeling even a little better now. What a lovely gift from Nelski.Bella - yes, like a 'jumble sale' is how I would describe my downstairs rooms yesterday. ☹️Nan - you deserve some slothful time, no need to feel anything but pleasure in it.The chap who was painting came again to clear out the guttering of the garden walls, it only needs a four step ladder. There was all sort of grasses and little flowering plants all living happily in them along with a carpet of dense moss. The garden is walled on all four sides so he was here about an hour it's just as well that the gardener had loped back the three huge our of control bushes along one wall last week. Whilst he was here I cracked on with sorting out the mess. Now there's two bags of stuff for the Tuesday CS in Glasgow and two bags for the tip.Today I will start upstairs- three bags and two boxes are waiting to go through. It's such a good chance to get rid of things which I haven't needed or missed in the past three years. The weather is still dull, the sky is just grey. The fabulous sunshine is forecast for here midweek, just when I'll be back in Glasgow. 🤬 Still, at least I won't be tempted to idle my time in the garden and let me get on with things inside.I hope that our poorlies are getting better. Happy Saturday to all.11 -
Good morning folks and thanks GERS. By heck it's scorching already and set to reach 28 deg by mid-day. That puts paid to my garden reading as I can't cope with the heat like I used to. My legs don't feel to be my own.
I have a little list here that's been here for 3 weeks! It's for Savers, Bo*ts and H & B and it's been propped up since my last bus ride into town! So this morning I really must brave the heat and get the early bus down as I am now in need of everything on the list! Hopefully I will be back before it gets too hot.
I made the mistake of asking the hairdresser to cut it just a little bit shorter yesterday. A little bit seemed to be interpreted as a lot and I have been scalped!! Oh well at least it grows quicker in the summer!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and woeful. Hope RUBY and family are coping ok, as well as DUMPLING and MR FIXIT. Thinking of all our MIA too. Take care one and all, be safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Now back from our hols, was lovely and we were lucky with the weather. We got back Thursday night and spent yesterday doing all the post hols chores, washing, drying etc. I didn't manage to get on here though. I've got all the holiday washing done and line dried as it's so hot.
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv, DS1 still in his pit and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my porridge and first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was roast chicken, stuffing, yorkshires (that I'd previously made and froze), new potatoes, carrots, broc and gravy. This morning I'll be heading to the SM to do a food shop - so we all have food for pack ups and evening meals.
Not sure what we'll be eating tonight but will have a look for something different when I'm shopping.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
Steve is in a huge sulk so the next few days could be difficult!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.11 -
Good morning everyone
It's going to be scorching hot here today so I am staying under the fan with my iced water and the tv remote. My youngest sister has threatened to visit so I will be wearing one of my new maxi dresses which actually fit me now I have lost another load of weight.
I helped make dinner last night and it wiped me out so I need to go a bit slower. I don't want to lose any of my very limited mobility so I get up and walk around every hour. I want to do some more knitting too as my hands are stiff and a bit numb.
My grandchildren are still isolating at their dads so I have to wait for my cuddles until next week. I have had messages from them though so that has been lovely.
Enjoy the sunshine everyone but make sure you use sunscreen. Take care xx11 -
Morning All
Looks like it will be another scorcher here, I'll be moving from one chair to another to stay in the shade! Couldn't settle yesterday afternoon as I was really enjoying a book, had to get it finished!
Shopping to do this morning, I have friends coming over for lunch tomorrow. I will also have to water the allotment, all this sunshine will dry the soil in no time.
Sounds like you enjoyed your break nmlc.
Glad you're feeling better dumpling, hope Ruby and family are too.
Enjoy the weather Gers, it will be glorious up your way.
Right, off to the shower. Take care. XX11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers - I badly need to do a huge clear out here, to be honest I do not know where to start. Dumpling, take your time girl, you have only just come out of hospital. Ruby I hope you all are improving and you are feeling better. Hester, have a (hug). TA hope you get your shopping done before it gets too hot. Its awful travelling on a bus if its hot.
Welcome to the jaws of hell!! its not 9am and its stonking hot, DB has gone out into the garden to do a couple of things that need doing.
Last night we watered in the twilight, our back garden faces almost due south, so once the sun comes over the roof its hot until it moves round to the west. We were hoping to get the greenhouse up today ,but I think thats going to be a no no. WE will have to wait until its a bit cooler. By then it will be pouring with rain and freezing cold!!
We did manage to get the weed proof membrane down and tipped the stone, so to all intents and purposes all we need now is the actual greenhouse to be put up. I have had to order more stone to fill in the gully around the greenhouse.
We are still picking bowls full of raspberries, most of which are going into the freezer. I need to have the drawers out and sort them out, its like a treasure hunt looking for something to eat!!
No idea whats for supper, there is some smoked haddock in one of the freezers might use that although we did have fish yesterday.
Right, time to move my backside and plant up the plants that are in the cold frame. DB has a new one, its waiting for the lady who did not have a meccano set to put it together, so guess the drill is going to have to go on charge.

Morning all
Another scorcher here I have put a wash on and will get OH to hang it out for me later, annoyingly he seems to be revovering quicker than mehis taste and smell are slowly starting to return so Im hoping mine will in the next few days.
I have an Ocado delivery coming tonight, its the only delivery I could get on short notice but it will be a treat to have some 'posh' food for a change ! Hopefully next week I can get back to my click and collect from Aldi, much cheaper !
I have been watching Clarksons farm on Amazon which has been really amusing, its the trials and tribulations of his haphazard way of farming but its actually really funny and does make you see how hard farming is, Nels I think you have Prime, its well worth a watch ! xx
Right better get on and do nothing ! Have good days all and take care xxx

Morning campers, my it's blummin hot already, I had to sit in the shade yesterday to read as it was scorchio 😎We had a lovely time at DD's yesterday but I had to get the tissues out when we watched DGS's leavers video, lots of memories for me from every year he's been at the school, including photos. I still remember taking him for his first day at Nursery, I think I was more apprehensive than he was 😱Last night was very hot and I did a lot of wandering the house, think it may be the case tonight too unless I can tire myself out. Already I have done a load in the wm and hung it on the whirly, filled the dw and pushed the go button. I hope to attack potter in the garden, the lawns still need attention but the sun is on all the lawns front and back, so I'll wait till much later then perhaps it will be a bit cooler when the sun goes down behind the tree line. I have some clothes to sort and put away from the last wash I did, I hang my head in shame for not doing it sooner, they've been hanging on the airer in the spare room and are dry as a bone.Mr Fix It is still not well, he's up and down like the buses, apparently the side effects can last 2-3 weeks or 2-3 months but the team at the hospital are only a phone call away if things really go t*ts up. 😟Hugs to all the poorly ones and anyone struggling with daily life.Take care allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11

Morning All
Hope everyone is ok
Thinking if all the poorlies as I know this heat doesn't always help
Left DNeice and friend to have a lie in at the hotel and I have come to see Ddad for a bit on my own before we all go out to lunch
Had a lovely catch up yesterday evening with DN and talked about my Dsis and had some laughs
May go for a drive to the coast but will depend on the heat and how Ddad feels
Have a good day all hugs to all who want or need them
