Hello all, today i received 2 letters from cabot financial welcoming me to Cabot, and then going on to tell me they own "my" debt with Barclaycard credit card. well needless to say i have never heard of Cabot financial, let alone joined there group. initially i have no idea what this debt was/is? and to be honest I'm still not 100% sure. the only thing i can think of is a credit card i had with Barclays over 20 years ago!! so I'm after some advise please. should i contact them? and how would i do this without acknowledging the debt? also if this is the debt can they still chase it 20 years later? many thanks.

Yes, but the Limitation act 1980 see`s to it, that they cannot collect on it.
Cabot are a major player in the debt purchasing business, they are well known on this forum.
Send the statute barred letter to them, edit it to your circumstances, and if what you say is true, that should be the end of the matter.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Many thanks for your reply. I have spoken to someone from the national debt online organisation. They advised the same. I sent off the statute barred letter this evening (via Royal mail signed for) they should receive it Monday morning.0
