Retirement Notice Period

I have a 1 month notice period

I handed my notice in early April with a finish date of September 30th basically because I wanted to be professional and give my company plenty of time to replace me. I orginally wanted to finish end of July but my company wanted me to work to the end of the year. We reached a compromise based on me getting my company car for a reasonable price and I offered to do some consultancy work if a replacement wasn't found.

A replacement has been found but it now seems the good deal on my car isn't going to be upheld. I am also really struggling at work and just don't enjoy it anymore

My question is can I rescind my notice in September and bring it forward by giving them 1 months notice?

Was your agreement put into writing?

If you didn't sign a new fixed term contract with them, then your obligation to give one months notice is all that is required to leave.

If you want to double-check this and you have home insurance, check if you have legal expenses cover and if you do, give the legal helpline a call.

Not really there needs to be a hand over as my role is a complex managerial role

Don't forget that had you resigned any time before deciding to retire, your replacement would have received much less than a month of handover as it might have taken a month to recruit somebody and take up references.

Well the company should have made you give 2 or 3 months notice, not 1.

Is just give 1 months, do what you can, and skip on to retirement without looking back.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
