Cleared CCJ advice welcome

A few years back I got myself in a pickle and ended up with 2 CCJ's. These have now been cleared and although I have had letters from the companies to say they are clear, (I needed prove for my landlady) I have never sent the £15 to the courts to satisfy these accounts. Will this make a difference to my credit scoring even though they are clear? I am wondering if I could save myself the £30 and leave things as it is, will it still be showing on any credit check as not satisfied? Hope this makes sense, I know what I'm trying to say...just hope you do too! Any advice welcome. Thanks

Your best option would be to check your credit rating - there is a statutory fee, of £2.00, but this will tell you wheteher the entries have been marked as satisfied or not. You can request that they are amended and whilst the credit reference agencies may accept the letters from the original creditors as proof, they may, unfortunately, insist on the certificate of satisfaction.
However, you say that these CCJ's are a few years old - they should, automatically, drop of your credit file after six years.

  • I got a CCJ in August 2001. It was paid off in full by September 2002. It remained visible on my credit record until August 2007, then disappeared in accordance with the 6-year rule.

Forgive me for being a bit dense here but if I do pay to have them marked as satisfied does that not clear them from my credit rating? Or do I still ahev to wait the 6 years?

    Hi Poppett

If you still have the letters from the companies to say that the ccjs are paid, then send a copy of them to the court that issued the ccj. They will then update their records which in turn will update your credit file and there is no fee to pay for this - the fee is only payable if you need/want a copy of the certificate for your own records.

If the judgments were paid after 28 days from when they were issued they will remain on your credit file but will be marked satisfied. x x
