Council Tax Banding

My mother lived in a warden assisted, 2 bedroomed, terraced house. She pays approximately £180 mthly maintenance fees. She also pays band E council tax rates. In a separate facility, she has access to an on-site laundry and community lounge but chooses not to use it. Is she being charged inflated council tax banding for these facilities does anyone know as the house price would suggest a correct banding of C.

It would be unusual for the CT band to reflect usage of facilities in a separate building. It would be more usual for the communal facilities to be lumped together and be subject to a non domestic rating assessment. Even if the CT band did reflect the usage of communal facilities, it could not be reduced just because your mother chose not use these facilitiesIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
