His 'simple idea whip climate change' is in this article.
If you can afford US$250,000 you can have a 2 hours flight to the edge of space.

What is your question? Shouldn't this be in the vents and rants section?
You are just having a dig at Richard Branson and defamatory posts can land you and/or this site in trouble. The forum's rules state - "Remember: it must be about MoneySaving, be relevant to the thread and posted in accordance with the Forum rules.
If a post is reported to the Forum Team as being defamatory, we’ll follow a legal process set out in Section 5 of the Defamation Act 2013."
I say this because I once made what I thought was an innocent comment on a thread that was removed because a complaint was made about the OP's post being defamatory. I was contacted and told that I had the right to remove my comment before the complainant took further action. Had there been a court case, I may have ended up paying out for what I thought was an innocent remark. It was - but the OP was not.
Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I do carry out careful research before posting and never intend to mislead or supply out-of-date or incorrect information, please do not rely 100% on what you are reading. Verify everything in order to protect yourself as you are responsible for any action you consequently take.0 -
NYT is paywalled but I dread to think what the carbon footprint of one virgin galactic flight is - more than the average person emits in their lifetime?I think....1

Yes but Sir Richard is Big People; it's only little people who must watch their carbon footprint !2

Assuming you only fly once, you simply have to die a year early to compensate.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

RB used to have an old Dassault Falcon as a runaround. Now that really would have bumped up his personal footprint. It would have been nine years ago he retired that, IIRC. Not sure how he gets around the globe these days.0

And do we really care - why do people feel the need to criticise the actions of others. Why can't we just live and let live and hope that generally others dont interefer with you enjoyment of life and stuff.
Peronally I dont want a Ferrari, helicopter or space rocket but I dont really care if someone else has one and derives pleasure out of their hard earned money.
Although that said I'd be a bit annoyed if they thrashed their Ferarri up and down my road at all hours of the day and night or kept landing and taking off in a helicopter in the field behind my house.
Just my opinion you understand but in general there's too much interference in people's lives by those who I feel are just trying to make mischief.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
The issue here, though, is the hypocrisy of a large emitter portraying himself as the great environment problem-solver5

coffeehound said:The issue here, though, is the hypocrisy of a large emitter portraying himself as the great environment problem-solverThat is exactly the point.I agree with matelodave's point about interference in peoples lives; for example how many of us live in houses too big for our 'needs'? Yet that seems to upset some people. It is much like Al Gore the ex USA vice president who is one one the leading lights on saving the environment, winning the Nobel Peace prize for his book An Inconvenient Truth. He tours the world lecturing on how we must all use less energy. Yet a Freedom of Information request revealed that for just one house(of the several he owns) used 221,000kWh in a year and spent over US$1,000 a month on gas.'The group released the information on Monday night under the title "Al Gore's personal energy use is his own inconvenient truth". Its president, Drew Johnson, told the Guardian that he had no objection to someone spending $30,000 on energy to light and heat a multimillion dollar house. "I only have a problem with that person telling us what light-bulbs to buy and that we should get a new low-energy refrigerator. That's hypocrisy, and I'm proud to have exposed it," he said.'Anyway I think Sir Richard Branson can take a little teasing on an internet forum!
