Hello!
I hope I'm posting in the right place.
I have been trying to learn to cook Chinese food, and rice cookers seem an important piece of kit. We have a Ninja Foodi 9 in 1 which I use all the time and apparently pressure cooks rice quite well.
Is a dedicated rice cooker worth it do you think, please? I understand even the cheap ones give great results but does anyone know if the Ninja pressure cooked rice is as good as using a rice cooker to steam it?
All advice is welcomed!
Many thanks
Lucy
Edit: Should this be on the Tech Stuff thing instead I'm not sure, apologies if so. Hopefully the mods will move it for me 🙈

Though it's personal preference, I don't find much difference in rice cooked in a foodi and in a rice cooker. But I'm also quite happy with properly cooked rice from a pan (right water/rice ratio, not over or undercooked, etc).
We used to have a rice cooker but someone broke it and I've never seen the need to replace it now that we have the foodi and a really good oven--I sometimes pop rice and water into a casserole dish to cook in the oven alongside whatever else is roasting/baking etc and the rice comes out beautifully each time.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30001 -
We also had a rice cooker that broke and now use an instant pot instead. I found with both bits of kit I have had to modify the cooktime, especially for glutenous rice so I don't think one is easier than the other and practice is more important.
Learning to cook Chinese food is well worth the time. I would fully recommend "chinese cooking demystified" and "made with Lau" on youtube.SPC #046 2021- £293.26

I follow Chin and Choo/Ziangs on YouTube/TikTok and they're great too. A lot has been takeaway stylie food from their first book which has surpassed the quality of our local takeaways (small village and the choice is terrible) and the savings have been great. Also knowing what's going in them is the biggest bonus!
I've dug my instruction book out for the Foodi and it does give directions for different types of rice but I guess it depends on the brand too how well it turns out? I really worry about wasting food but I'll put my big girl's pants on and get trying it all out.
Thanks so much again for your replies I really appreciate your help and advice. My confidence is awful and this has boosted me to just do the thing and see what happens! 😃

Thanks so much for the suggestions btw, I tried the Ninja and it was geeat! I've been using 200g rice, 250ml water and pressure cook for 2 mins and the rice has been perfect! So I'm really pleased we don't need a rice cooker after all. I can't see how one could do any better than that
