hi,
Work CCTV caught a couple having sex in public outside our premises. The person zoomed in and it was zoomed in longer than required to say o dear.
Uncomfortable this was recorded and more so zooming and watching. Police not called or raised this is on the system.
Thoughts? Should I be doing anything or ignore.

I don't think you need to do anything, other than perhaps encourage the viewer of the footage to respect people's privacy more. (Not that there can be any expectation of privacy in a public place.) The footage has been captured to protect their employer's premises, not for them to enjoy.
You might consider raising it with management to see if the clip can be erased immediately to avoid any temptation of someone taking an unauthorised copy, and the appearance of this on the internet bringing the company into disrepute - the risk in deleting the clip is that there is something else going on elsewhere in the image that might be required later, e.g. a passing car that has been used in a crime.
If the same place is used again for sex, it would be worth raising it with management to see if they want to raise it with the police. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -

I am not sure they have committed any crime? If there were people about then I suppose they might have "outraged public decency" or something like that.Buzzard1985 said:hi,

As tacpot has said there is no expectation of privacy in a public place and nothing to prevent anybody from photographing or videoing them providing the photographer was also either in a public place or could see them from a private place where the photographer had a right to be.
There are however some restrictions specifically about CCTV installations. Assuming those were complied with by the company (?) the couple have a right to ask for a copy of the footage (!!) but that is about it.
But this is where it all gets a bit silly. If, rather than CCTV, your or you colleague had been walking along the street and got out your mobile phone you could have filmed them and sold the footage to the highest bidder. The only exceptions would be if the material was so graphic as to be obscene (unlikely unless children or animals were involved!!) or if you were silly enough to ask permission and / or direct them in any way in which case they would become "models" and have some rights.0 -
What is your role in this? Do you have any responsibility for the cameras, or the operators, or those viewing the footage?Signature removed for peace of mind3
