Getting a loan in order to move so I can start an Apprenticeship

Options
Hello,

I am currently stuck financially and was wondering what solutions are out there for me.

I'm 18 and In September I'm hoping to move in order to be bale to start an apprenticeship which is in a different city and I currently don't really have any money to be able to move and it's just the initial deposit and first month I'm worried about as I'll have an income after that.

Do you think a loan is suitable, and if so what type of loan. I looked into loans offered by nationwide but I'm not to sure they would offer me  loan as I currently have no income but I will have an Income once I start my apprenticeship.

There are not many jobs where I'm currently living and no transportation.

Any advice would be appreciated and feel free to ask me any more questions.

Thanks.

You’re not going to get a loan off anyone with no income.
Have you looked at whether the apprenticeship will pay enough for you to live on once you’ve moved?
Are you working or claiming benefits at the moment? UC advance could be a possibility.
Any family who could help out?
Rather than renting, you could look at being a lodger to start with, which may not require a similar level of deposit.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Yes, The apprenticeship would pay enough for me to live.
My family claim benefits but I'm not sure if I would be eligible for a UC advance and my family can't really help me as they have other financial things to worry about.

Originally I was looking for a house share with somebody so that bills and council tax are less of a worry. I have reached out to a friend I know who lives in derby but idk if she is going to be able to help me.

Currently I'm looking to see if commuting from my location would viable but it requires a really early morning train and a couple of taxi's which probably would be quite expensive and I don't know anybody who currently commutes in that direction.

    Thanks for your help!

You can claim UC in your own right between now and September if you can’t get a job. That might get you an advance?

Which city do you live in now (how far is Derby from you)?

The normal (and in my view sensible) way to deal with this issue is to get a room as a lodger for four nights per week, then travel down on the Monday and back on the Friday evening.

Lots of people take in lodgers, and it’s pretty much the cheapest way for you to get accommodation.
  • Try Spare Room, Rooms for Let or Gumtree and travel Mon-Fri. Depending where you are, could you not cycle or do CBT for a basic moped? Can you not temp for 2 months and earn some cash?

    Think about this.

How will you afford to pay the loan on top your living costs. The loan wi cost you more than the rent in tbe long run.
