Have Student Loans Company Extended The 25 Year Write Off Clause to 30 Years!?
I have just had my deferment forms sent through and as I am on a Plan 1 Loan, I was mulling over the fact that I am now on a limited number of deferments as the 25 Year write off will come into place next year. I have 3 loans from 93,94 and 95 on one agreement and a seperate agreement for 97. I then wondered if my undergraduate loans should actually have been written off last year. When i went to the Government student loans site, to get some more information, I saw that it states that plan 1 loans now have a 30 year write off window? When did this change? Are they allowed to change this without informing me as it would appear to be a change in the loan agreement? Also, do I need to request this from the SLC? Thanks for any advice!

The government site says plan 1 is written off at 65 for 2005/6 or earlier and 25 years is for 2006/7 or later
The MSE blog says 1990-1997 start date is 25 years or when you reach 50 if you started before you were under 40 when you got the loan
All a bit mess, sorry I can't advise better but I cannot see any reference to it being 30 except for Scotland0 -
