I’m about to settle my IVA early (after 9 months of being in it due to a change in circumstances). I understand the IVA will still stay in my credit file, but as I’ve settled it early, it will show as ‘completed’. My question is - although the IVA is on the file, as it’s showing as completed, will my credit rating therefore start to improve from when the ‘completed’ marker goes on, or will it not improve until 5 years from when I took out the IVA, as in when the IVA is removed from my file completely?

You do not have a credit rating in the UK.
With an insolvency, nothing will improve until the 6 years are up, and it drops off your file.
With things like defaults and late payments, time is a healer, and the older the information is, the less effect it will have in lending decisions, however it would still be hard to be accepted for credit.
With a Bankruptcy/IVA or DRO, things are different, lenders dislike insolvency of any kind, and its likely to be a flat out rejection till its gone from your file.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
