O/S Daily Thursday 8 July 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast but dry underfoot but rain forecast.
DS1 getting ready for work, DH and myself enjoying first cuppa. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was piri piri spatchcock chicken, new potatoes and salad.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.My drive down yesterday was slow and pleasant. During weekdays there are so many lorries rumbling up and down which slows thing right down.Afternoon tea was delightful, just relaxing chatting and nibbling on wee delicious delicacies was so lovely. I was a tad overwhelmed by being given a menu of 27 different types of tea so plumped for a breakfast blend. Alan chose Darjeeling and throughly enjoyed it.News about the flat keeps changing. The viewing booked for yesterday was cancelled though there's one this afternoon. A closing date of Friday at noon has been set so I'll be on tenterhooks until I get that phone call. Of course it's entirely possible that there are no offers 😱😱 something I have to keep in mind. Other than that I'm hopeful. 😀
This morning I've a couple of tasks to get done, collect an order from JL at Waitrose, collect a parcel from the RM delivery office and visit the PO. Then I'm back down to Airdrie to have my new dash cam checked, I think it's not charging. My latest bout of grass cutting (on wet grass so not finished) reminded me of the problems keeping the cord out of the way, especially as I need to use a very long extension too. Last night I spotted a discount code for a very good cordless lawn mower, almost half price, so jumped in to order it. Almost half price makes it extremely MSE! 😀 I hope.I'm still thinking about our missing and poorlies and RR's daughter too.DP1 - have you booked your trip yet?Happy Thursday to everyone.11 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.Sorry to read that your DD's got CV Ruby, it sounds really nasty. Hope she'll not get any worse.Rosy Red I laughed about your Sil oiling her jaw! Hope you enjoyed your chat anyway, and neither of you had to rest your jaws when you got home.Hester, don't stop posting, I just post a load of waffle half the time, most of us don't lead exciting lives. We like to hear about your life on a boat. I read your blog as well. What is it about men and their clothes? I sometimes get rid of items of DH's "working" clothes because they're past even sitting round the house in, some old t shirts have gone and he hasn't noticed. I don't mean to sound patronising or sexist but really.....DD came after school yesterday, it was lovely to see her, she made a nice card for one of her teachers, she's getting quite good at it.Nowt much going on today, I'll put some washing in. It's sunny and quite warm so it should dry.Hope everyone has a good Thursday anyway, take care folks.9

Morning All
I've just slept for 9 1/2 hours, can't remember when that last happened, if at all. It's taking me a while to get going this morning and of course I missed my morning walk. Never mind, swimming at 9.
Yesterday I walked, swam, cut the hedge and started power washing the deck. The steps are done, the rest isn't so tricky but involves moving all the pots, bins and tables and chairs. Hopefully it won't be so hot today, yesterday was really warm but quite pleasant playing with the hose!
Glad you enjoyed your afternoon tea Gers.
Hope Ruby's DD is recovering.
Enjoy Thursday if you can, take care. XX

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
My car should be ready to collect today though I can't get a lift to collect it until Saturday. I'm very worried, not about driving but about it getting vandalised again as this is the third time it's been targeted. It's not left in the same place, it's been chosen specifically by people who want the parts from it. I may decide to stop driving earlier than planned.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.9 -
Morning all. Not sunny but not raining. Did some washing, put down the outdoor rug, covered the table outside with half a shower curtain I'd bought from Ikea for three quid, so instead of paying 12 quid a meter for some plasticised fabric, it cost me 1.50 and I have another piece to recover it when that one is worn or torn. I might go and 'rationalise' the garage today. I need some space to do some bits and pieces and we obviously can't rely on good weather so I can do it outside so the garage contents will have to be pared back. A lot of it is Justin anyway.I'm not getting my car back until after the weekend thanks to broken parts being delivered and the next one not coming until Friday. I was going to try and do a day trip to Hampton Court but I can't get to the pick up point and then coming back with armfuls of purchases on a bus is just not feasible. It won't kill me not to buy more plants though...Ruby, hope your daughter is improving and you've all managed to avoid catching it. Gers, not long before you can repair to your cottage. You've done so much work. Nanny, hope you two are getting some respite from travelling and treatment, it's just so tiring...Csarina, I had a dash cam fitted and it bongs at me when I change lanes, when I speed, when cars are too close. I switch it off but every time it resets, it starts again. And I switched off the parking sensors, driving me nuts. TA, hope you're enjoying your break and Sparkle is too. Hester, what a pain, what about swapping it for something no one wants? Scarlet, OH has T Shirts from the nineties...the neck band is practically falling off them but he won't get rid of them....They must have been quality material to have lasted this long. I have to get him special socks [that he didn't know existed until I found some] because his feet are so big they break or make holes in normal ones within weeks. At least this lot have lasted at least three years. Hope you're all doing well, or just doing, but still around! Have a quiet enjoyable day all....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

Morning all, & thanks nmlc , hope you're enjoying your time off. Quick one from me as T are due with the shopping. The charity bag has been collected, good thing I popped it out with it as soon as I was up
It's nice and sunny and warm.
Scarlet- yes I think we were both all chatted out, not used to talking so much at oncerecently. It was lovely though, and the food was great too for a little Italian place at a retail park. I had a portobello mushroom with goats cheese on spinach surrounded by bits of different salads, she had a chicken one. We had cake too
It was a bit more relaxed too as DS picked DGS up from school so I didn't need to rush. They were allowed to wear England tops if they wanted to, and had footie related activities, he was buzzing. Did meat pie and chips for tea, though I didnt need much.
Fingers crossed for the flat GersAnother meet up today, this time with my cousins!HH car theft and catalytic converter theft are rife round hereso annoying.
Camelot, ooh that's a long sleep.Right MrT is here, better go, have a good day x

Morning, hugs if you need one.
Gers so pleaesed you enjoyed your 'posh' tea. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Yesterday was a day of sunshine and thunderstorms. DB was going up the garden when it suddenly pelted down, by the time he got back to the kitchen door he was wet through.
Shopping this morning, going a bit earlier we want to go to Lidl, they have 2 slice toasters, I want to have a look at them. I have a 4 slice at the moment which we just find very hit and miss. There are only ever the two of us for breakfast, so a smaller one will create a bit of space on my very crowded work top. On then to Aldi to pick up my shopping.
Hopefully we will get the base of the greenhouse concreted in either today or tomorrow, I would like to get the greenhouse up before next week, the forecast is for very hot weather for 2 weeks.
No idea whats for supper, might do a fritatta and salad.8 -

Morning all
Just a quick one from me,I feel very ropey so I am just about to do a covid test, dd is much the same bless her she is as white as a sheet with huge bags under her eyes and is coughing continually and still hot and cold. I will report back later once ive done the test.
Stay safe everyone xxx8 -
Hi everyone
Late one from me - sat in the sun for a little while after work and then popped down to M and S for some bits. Got a nice scotch egg for tea and some reduced chicken skewer things, which I had with salad and coleslaw.
It's been a lovely day here, so we've been outside most of the day - I love this winding-down time of year with the kids. We made England flags and they ran round the yard waving them.
Gers - yes I've had my flights booked for a few weeks now. I found a good deal one day and they can be changed, so I just booked them. It's seeming very hopeful that I'll be able to go - it's not till the last week in August so fingers crossed.
Ruby - sorry to hear about your DD. Hoping your test is negative. Inn the small town where I live, a lot of businesses have had to close this last week, because of staff isolating.
There was a charity bag through my letterbox, which is handy as I have a couple of binbags of clothes to go. It's to be collected on Tuesday, so I'll try and sort through my drawers over the weekend and see if there is anything else to go.
Well I'd better wash my dishes. Take care everyone9
