This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks.Once again, after a lovely sunny Tuesday today is wet and grey. At least I finished my washing machine marathon yesterday. My cleaner arrived. I haven't seen her for over two years so it was so nice to have a chat. Then I asked her to do only the kitchen. It's really tiny but needed the tops of cupboards cleaning as well as the top of the cooker hood and the window frames etc.I started to cut the grass but had to stop as the ground was too wet from the torrential rain on Monday. Now the back garden has a mullet! 😂 It won't get done today either. In the late afternoon a neighbour called in whilst walking her dog so we had a really great time. Her husband came to collect her and brought the older dog which is the father of the younger one. Both dogs are delightful and funny, they both like having a shoe in their mouths.I'll be driving down to Glasgow this morning with a call in at the tip. This afternoon I'm taking my good friend for a delicious afternoon tea at the Willow Tearooms, I'm so excited to eventually get there. It may not seem very MSE but if I'd had to pay someone to do the work that Alan did in DM's flat I'd be out many hundreds of pounds. And we both deserve a treat. 🍰🧁
My thoughts are with our poorlies and missing. Come back, we love and miss you all. Happy Wednesday to everyone.12 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
I sometimes wonder why I bother to post as I have nothing of interest to say, another day here of walking Beano and dealing with Steve.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting Gers. It's dry here at the moment, no sunshine but dry!! Yesterday it rained all day, didn't stop till last night.I went to Hobby*raft yesterday, I love going there and could spend a fortune, and could also spend hours looking at the stuff. I bought some new cutting plates for the die cutter, some nice paper and a pack of pastel coloured cards, and one or two other little things which had been reduced..We weren't sure if the quiz was on last night, so went to the pub, but there were only 4 of us, everyone else must have been glued to the TV. We stayed for a couple of drinks anyway, it was just nice to be out.Nothing much happening today, Dgd may come for tea, DD will let me know.Glad things are looking up for you Gers, and you're getting settled in at home.Hope everyone else is ok - take care folks.10

Morning all. It was my turn to wait up for the cat last night..they have the hang of going out of the cat flap but not into to it, and after the fight with a fox a week ago ish, when he disappeared for a day, we now wait up for him like a naughty teenager. They're both sparked out now because they didn't get to bed until gone two either...Today I;m hoping the car will be ready so I can go shopping for some cat food. I get antsy when there's only one packet left, my prepper tendencies are screaming there should be at least five packets in the wings....I achieved my goal of absolutely nothing yesterday, today is going to be a washing, washing up, dishwasher and hoover kind of day. With some added mending of clothing. And I might do some research about storage of items...Maybe...Ruby,oh dear, hope she stays mild with it and the rest of you avoid it. Rosy, I agree about the paper thing. I'velost loads of photos from incompatible softae issues so now I just them printed if I want to keep them. I love a little orange or any colour poppy except yellow. I have a thing about yellow flowers. I jut don't like them. Except sunflowers...
casarina, yes, belly busting shirts are a no no...as well as saggy pants and holey socks. I just chuck them straight out now, I don't ask him and he doesn't ask me. Gers, enjoy your tea, hope Alan enjoys it too. Hester, because otherwise we'd worry....
Have a great day if you can, an OK one if you can't...

Morning All
Dry and bright this morning, throws from the living room are on the line, doesn't seem that long ago that they were washed but the DGC have been here!
Just been for a walk for over an hour with my walking buddies, nice to be out for longer and have a change of scenery, swimming at 9 then it's probably collapse for the rest of the day although the front hedge is in desperate need of a trim so may do that later. Don't mind cutting it, it's the clearing up I don't like! I had a tidy up in the garden yesterday and cut the grass so that all looks better.
The little one had a great time at the pool yesterday, she's getting much more confident.
Enjoy your afternoon tea Gers, well deserved by both of you.
Hope the holidaymakers are having a good break.
Hugs to you Ruby, hope everyone is OK.
Have a happy Wednesday, take care. XX11 -
Morning all,Wet again! The park was sodden and so was I.Never mind, I have to change soon as I am going out to lunch. My ex SIL has said she'll oil her jaw in readiness :DI t's over 20 years since she & my DB divorced but we've always stayed good friends, although I haven't seen her in person since last year as she no longer lives in the town.Gers hope you & Alan enjoy yourselves you deserve your treat.RRuby hope DD is ok.Taff- with you on the holey pants or was it socks, ughCamelot ,it's lovely seeing little ones enjoying themselves in the pool.HH, I hope you are ok, as Taff said we worry if someone doesn't post for a bit.I sometimes feel that way about my posting ,same old same old.HugsWell time for a coffee before I have a tidy. Yesterday I sorted all my craft stuff so the bedroom looks a lot better, and a charity bag got delivered to be collected tomorrow so DH belly busting shirts and T shirts can all go in that
, and that's another big bag gone!
Take care all. and enjoy your day if you can x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Enjoy your tea Gers, you deserve it!!
Taff one of the things that makes me jump every time I drive the car is when it shrieks at me if I am getting too close to anything especially when parking,.......I am trawling the hand book on line to find out how to set various things like single journey mileage. Yesterday I managed to set the total journey mileage, no idea how, but it appeared on the screen!! The other thing I want to set is the speed inhibiter, I do have a tendency to 'put the foot down'! I get constant reminders from the passenger seat. DB is the worlds worst passenger seat driver. He drives me nuts especially on a long journey. I am trying to concentrate and he is prattling away. Grrrrrr. It would not be the first time I have stopped and asked him if he wants to walk... if so get out the car or shut up!!
We had several heavy rain showers yesterday, I put the washing in the dryer. A load of whites in this morning, ope to get them dry outside.
Its coffee morning at the little chapel, so I need to go out and pull some rhubarb for J. Her husband loves it. I will also put somemore in the freezer against the winter.
No idea whats for supper will do a trawl and see what I can find, it just might be sausage. Strawberries for dessert what ever.8 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here and more rain due later, I have washing on the go so that will have to go in the td for a while.
Thanks for all the good wishes re dd she is really suffering bless her, she has a constant cough, high temp and then freezing cold, aches all over and is very weak she has hardly any appetite, I am getting a lot of fluid down her which is the main thing, I will see if she wants some crumpets after this as she loves them, its a horrible illness which I would not wish on anyone, and it would be much worse in someone elderly or poorly.
I took the dogs out yesterday (after googling it ) and I am safe to take them as long as I dont go near anyone or let anyone touch the dogs, I didnt see a soul which was good and OH took them in the evening and also saw no one which was good, they are dogs who need two good walks a day so im glad we can take them if we are careful.
We cant go anywhere or do anything so we are doing lots of little jobs in the house, cleaning out drawers and cupboards etc so trying to keep busy !
Gers enjoy your afternoon tea you and Alan deserve a treat xxx
Have good days all and stay safe xxx10 -
Hard_Up_Hester - keep posting so we know you are both okay.
Mr F and I have decided that we are going to still wear masks when on a bus and probably in shops too.
For dinner today I have an opened pack of smoked bacon in the fridge so we will have that in a ys panini with some past their best tomatoes - fried and an egg - may do a few roasted potato chunks too.
