What small DFW things will you do this week 05/07

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Hi
Hope I’ve not cross-posted with anyone and that you don’t mind me starting this off.
I’m expecting this week to be very busy this week so my plans are:- NSDs 5/7 days at least
- Revise for exam - it’s an expensive exam and I don’t want to pay out for another resit so I need to do some focused revision every day this week ahead of exam next Tuesday
- Take pictures of shoes, Sat Nav and teddies to get rid of and get at least one item listed on FB M@rketplace or eBay every other day (so min 4 items across week)
- Bag up other items to get rid of and take into charity shop
- Start off sourdough starter
- Start off mushroom growing kit
- Start off hydroponic herbs
- Stocktake fridge, freezers and cupboards and sort out meal plans prioritising use of existing stores for next couple of weeks
- Look at money making ideas noted down from Make £2021 in 2021 and see which ones I can implement
- All meals from stores
- Prolific/PMP
- Knitting/cross-stitch (making use of existing supplies)

Thanks for starting the thread Betharooni. Unfortunately our numbers have dwindled somewhat lately! Your lists are awesome - and good luck with the exam. Now there is something I don't miss!Today I have:Dog walk, free exerciseHousework - OH helped!Renewed OH's driving licence online. He is useless at that kind of thing - and he did do half the housework!Prepped RM surveys items for the weekBargainous 99p reduced smoked salmon for posh lunchtime sandwiches
Picked up 3 packs of this when I went shopping yesterday. The use by date is today, but I froze the other 2 packs. I hardly ever find yellow sticker items worth buying!
Load of washing dried outside on the linePicked strawberries and spinach from the gardenMade a spinach and feta filo pie with the spinachAlso made a sort of roast dinner pie with leftovers from yesterday. Added some but not all of the leftover roast chicken. The pie is big enough for two meals for the two of us.Made a quiche shell with leftover pastry.Done a few small garden jobs.2 -

@foxgloves I have been partly inspired by you (and Zero Waste Chef) to try making sourdough. I tried making one before but it started growing a tiny bit of mould in the jar so we got rid of it. I really want to try again and hopefully I can eventually get to keeping a starter for four years like you. FYI I love reading you diary ❤️3

Hi all
Today was another NSD so that’s 2 of my target of 5. I also started off the hydroponic basil - wow that was overly complicated. I’m gonna see about setting up the grow your own mushroom kit tomorrow 🍄Other than that, I’ve had all meals from stores, checked Prolific (nothing to do atm) and PMP and finished edging crocheted squares for a blanket I’m making with my Mum for one of our neighbours for Christmas (we swap presents every year). I’m now watching the Italy v Spain match and reading through some documents for a group I am secretary of. Bed soon and a busy day expected at work tomorrow.
@jadewest94 what a result getting that £50 without having to do the Zoom call!

Evening allWorked at the shop where I rent my sales unit this afternoon, so limited moneysaving activities today. Just the usual really, dog walk, housework etc. Not much cooking needed as I made lots of food yesterday.I was pleased to see several gaps on the shelves in my sales unit, so must sort out some more things to take down there with me when I go again on Thursday.I am intrigued by your complicated hydroponic basil @Betharooni - I just grow it in the ordinary way, just from seed in compost each year, and find it pretty easy. My plants are in their individual pots now, and starting to produce big leaves. Looking forward to fresh pesto soon! Hope your efforts pay off before too long.
