Isolation and holidays

They are treating your absence as sickness instead of isolating.Emzo15 said:I meant pre-approved as in I had discussed the reasoning for my holiday with my manager and she had then approved it (which she made also a great struggle I might add) and now when on the app my holiday is "denied". No efforts to just give me them as unpaid days off and have someone cover me, nothing (knowing that my friends had paid for this holiday & it was non-refundable).
It has took for my mother to phone, for my manager to actually come on the phone call. My mother was told that my manager shouldn't even be hearing from me while I am off (most bizarre thing I've heard). After a lengthy discussion and my mother saying many points that were also said on here, she has then told my mother she will have a look and see what she can do to give me it off and phone her back in the morning (this was yesterday afternoon). We are still waiting on a phone call back. So we will see if she will keep her word to my mother more than she would me.
If you do not hear by phone then, if you have an email address, email your manager repeating that you need to have the time off and that you were not contacted to "deny" the holiday which had already been approved.0 -
Agree with this. I'd also add it's a bit unusual for your mum to be calling given you are 20/21 although I appreciate I don't know the reasons why you may need additional support. I don't think it would strengthen the impression of an employee with their manager.General_Grant said:

I understand that it may come across unusual to some that my mum contacted my boss given my age but she could see I was getting stressed and frustrated that I was getting nowhere so took matters into her own hands. My boss said she would contact my mum this morning, it is now 7:30 at night and still no contact from her. It is getting ridiculous now. I really don't know what else to do

Time for you to go above your managers head.

Thank you all for your advice and input. I have head offices number if needed, but we have now heard back and it has finally been sorted, she has put the 2 days I needed as a holiday. I am going to leave it as is for now, but if have any other issues with her I will not hesitate to contact head office myself.
Thank you all again

And I am probably more independent and self-driven than most people. But it's a lot easier for me to say that now than when I was 20.20 is considered childhood in some countries (e.g. US drinking laws).I don't think it would strengthen the impression of an employee with their manager. The OP is a 20-year-old entry-level worker, it doesn't matter what the manager thinks about it. If they were 25 and trying to get promoted to management it would.Only thing I would be concerned about is whether the mother asked for the OP's permission before phoning. If she didn't I would agree that's helicopter parenting.*crosspost edit* @OP: Great news, well done.1
