O/S Daily Friday 2 July 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day, rain forecast for later.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken in white wine and cream sauce, new potatoes and veg. Tonight will be a quick something and chips for the menfolk. I'll have something and veg or salad.
Yesterday was a busy day as I expected but it was ok and I'm now on annual leave so don't need to think about work and try to properly chill and relax.
On to today -
All the normal chores to do today so will crack on with those - first on the list is food shopping, then to town for a couple of jobs, housework, washing, drying etc - so plenty to keep me occupied today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc. Enjoy your day.Snoozer - I hope that Esben feels better today. 🤗
RedRuby - are you flea free yet?Yesterday I packed up more of my things and my lovely neighbour carried the boxes down to the car for me. Then I travelled into places unknown to get my new dash cam fitted, I was a little lost at first in the town centre and one way system, then a kindly taxi driver led me to where I needed to be. I had to go across the retail park and sit in Tesco's cafe for a while but it closed at 4pm. 😱 That's such an strange time to close. New dash cam fitted so I got myself home, it was much easier, I followed the big signs saying 'Glasgow'.Today I have more things to pack. I'll vacuum through the flat and make sure everything is neat before I leave this afternoon. I want it all looking fine for the viewings tomorrow. There's one more replacement bank card still to arrive so I'm going to wait for the postie before leaving for home. My plan is to stay until Tuesday morning so am hoping that the lovely weather hangs about a bit longer. For now my thoughts are with everyone here. Happy Friday to all. 💕10 -
Hi everyone, Quick one from me, I'm off to Laura's again in about 10 minutes. Brian had to pick up Esben from nursery again because he wouldn't eat and drink anything yesterday morning so I'm going to help out so that Brian can do some jobs while Laura is at college. Steve is golfing with Chris.
Gers, I hop you have a good journey home, take a deep breath and pamper yourself for the next few days, you deserve it.11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Enjoy your upcoming time away from work. GERS too, you have so earned a few days back in your own home after all your toiling. Fingers crossed the viewings go well.
Yesterday was another scorcher. I got loads of washing dry in record time and enjoyed more sitting in the sunshine reading. I started Victoria Hislop's newest book (the sequel to The Island) and couldn't put it down. Sadly the cloud cover is back this morning. No rain is forecast for today but apparently thunderstorms are expected tomorrow.
The only plan for today is the usual Friday Tidy. What excitement. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and MIA. Where is everybody just now? I hope you are missing as you are too busy having fun. Take care one and all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I've not posted for a couple of days, we are moored near a small town so we've been stocking the cupboards ready for when we are out in the sticks.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning All
Safe drive Gers and enjoy a few days relaxing in your own home.
Happy holidays nmlc.
Hope Esben feels better soon.
Lovely and bright here this morning but nowhere near as warm, just nice and fresh. Washing is out - the DGC have been taking it in turns to sleep in the big bed so that's been stripped as their Daddy is coming this evening for the weekend.
DD took the DGC to the park yesterday for a couple of hours while I had a major clean and tidy - not sure why I bothered, looks just as bad today! We're going swimming this morning then the park this afternoon, need to keep them busy so they sleep at night!
Watered the garden last night with water from the paddling pool, took ages but didn't want to waste all that water. The grass got a good soaking with what was left, no doubt I'll have to cut that now as it will grow really quickly.
Have a happy Friday, thinking of the poorlies, take care. XX12 -
Good morning everyone
Just had an early morning visit from the grandchildren when the doorbell went at 7.30am. Their mum has an early start in work so they came to spend an hour or so with their favourite grandparents (their words).
Phoebe has the day off and Lee has broken up from college so we are all home today. I have to put some chicken in to marinate for dinner tonight as I forgot yesterday so we ended up with a takeaway. It wasn't even very nice so that was disappointing.
The nurse didn't come yesterday so I hope they visit today. My leg has stopped leaking so much though so it isn't so much of an emergency. I will still be going up to bed twice a day to rest them as it seems to be helping.
I don't know what else to do today, I am still overheating at the slightest effort so will just be pottering.
Hope you all have a lovely day, take care xx10 -
Morning all, yes TA -very dull here today too after it being lovely yesterday.I went along for the ride with DH to pick up some tiles for a job a few miles away, mostly through country lanes. I thought he'd been before & knew the way - wrong ! and we ended up in a big loop having missed a turning, until I got a map on my phone. Got there in the end and it was nice to see some different scenery .In the afternoon I went for a walk before ending through the park and sat on a bench people watching. The council have left large areas unmowed, which got a bit much if it rained and you were dog walking resulting in wet legs. Some small dogs would be hidden
, it was that long, but now they have mowed several paths through and it's quite nice.
On the way back down our road I talked to a lady who loves our big dog, she usually waves when she's undoing her bedroom curtains in the morning. She has been deaf from being young and is now 90, I haven't seen her for a while and she said she'd fallen in her front garden and broken several ribs. She's out and about carefully now as still a bit sore. Poor lady, she also lost her DH a few months ago. I think she was glad to talk to someone & it's nice to know seeing Bigdog gives her pleasure. Not on this occasion though - she was flat out in the kitchen in the coolest spot she could findYet to decide on tea, plenty in from the delivery yesterday though. I'm making a pesto loaf in the BM.Enjoy your leave nmlc, and your weekend at home Gers.Hope Esben feels better soon SnoozerGrandchildren do leave a trail of mess behind don't they Camelot ? Worth it thoughHave a nice day all x

Dull and overcast here this morning but hopefully the sun will ome out later, I have a day off from dog walking todaydd has the day off and is going out walking with her friend and will take both dogs with her which is nice and a break for me/
I am taking mum shopping later we will go to Lidl I think she likes the help of someone lifting her shopping in and out of the car, it gets a bit much for her so thats my good deed for the day !
My poor sister cut her hand really badly on Wednesday she was lifting a big tin tray and dropped it and caught it with her right hand and the edge was razor sharp and cut three fingers, she went straight to A & E where she discovered she had cut through the flexor tendonshe had an appointment yesterday with a plastic surgeon who operated on her finger to attatch the tendon back together, she is in a cast and sling for 12 weeks and she has permanent nerve damage, she cant drive for at least 12 weeks so I will see if she needs any shopping too. She said its very painful and she is finding it difficult to do anything as its her dominant hand !
Gers Touch wood we do seem to be flea free we have not seen any for a few days so we are cautiously hoping that they have gone, Enjoy your weekend at home and I hope the viewings go well xx
Will empty the dw and have a quick tidy round before I go shopping.
Have good days all xxx12 -
Morning, Hugs if you need one. Gers enjoy your few days break, fingers crossed for a good result from the viewings tomorrow.
Lovely day yesterday, cloudy this morning. We laid out the base for the greenhouse and marked how much turf needs skimming off, then we can join the base up and concrete the pegs in once we have thoroughly read the instruction to errect the frame. I now need to sort out the stone for one side and the path.
DB has ordered a load of seed, I guess he will spend most of the spring in the greenhouse, he has also ordered a new wooden cold frame. The plastic one we were given from next door is really past its best.
I need to pick rhubarb for the freezer, its going mad again. Will also take some to the coffee morning next week.
Order needed for click and collect at Aldi, need to sort it and get it done or I will not get the slot I usually get.
Supper tonight fish and chips, dessert may well be strawberries, depends on how many have ripened up.

A quick good morning from mehefinland.
Sunny and warm here at the moment, a complete change from yesterday!!
Scoobymare and Lagan longneck were spotted 'necking' this week ( Mutual grooming) which was something we never thought would happen given their past history. Fairy pony just ignored them lol.
Sally Lab is suffering in the warm. Flat out on the kitchen tiles huffing and puffing.
Nothing else much to report.
Hugs and spoons as always
