O/S Daily Thursday 1st July 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day, rain forecast for later.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was salad, pork pie (menfolk), ham, boiled egg, hot quiche, and jacket potato. Tonight will be chicken made into something - possibly chicken in a sauce with new potatoes and veg.
Yesterday work was ok, last day before finishing for annual leave today but expect today to be a busy day, we'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc. I hope your day goes well.Breakfast with Alan was really nice yesterday. For a change we had bacon rolls, hadn't had that for ages. Then I went to the estate agents office. Handing over the flat keys felt so weird, I almost didn't want to but it's done. On the way home the traffic was stopped at a major crossroads at the entrance to the Botanic gardens, police on motorcycles with flashing lights, pedestrians all bunched up on all four sides and cars just waiting. The normal frustration and mild swearing changed to 'OMG' as a big sleek Bentley drove through the roadblock with police outriders - only the blooming Queen. 😃 Never expected that. She'd been visiting a children's meadow which is about 400 yards from DM's place. I didn't see her but was happy to wait five minutes.Back at the flat I have done some more packing of my own things. Then, out of the corner of my eye I spotted a box lurking under my bed. More material, some lovely thick'ish cotton which has already found a worthy home.Today I'm getting a new dash cam fitted. The present one has given up the ghost and I need a new one. When the taxi driver hit my previous car it came in very useful as it showed exactly what happened. The place I'm going to is not local unfortunately. The day promises to be another scorcher, here's hoping it lasts all weekend.Hugs to all. Happy Thursday.11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for kicking off. GERS what a one-off experience yesterday. Today is forecast to be another lovely sunny day so the garden may beckon when the usual Thursday jobs have been done.. It's not looking too promising for the coming week though. Maybe they will be wrong!
I had a lovely day out with bestie yesterday. We settled on Ilkley and it was so pleasant just wandering around in the sunshine before heading for lunch. It was enjoyed by us both, as was the lovely bottle of wine. Other than lunch a few birthday cards nothing else had tempted me to spend. We do miss the Laura Ashley shop as that was always our first port of call.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. As usual our poorlies and MIA are in my thoughts. Take care one and all x

Hi everyone,
The house is quiet, Steve has gone to golf and I am nursing a cup of tea in peace after yesterday's hectic day. Esben was up and down, he is on antibiotics because we're pretty sure he has an infection of some sort, unfortunately because the GP still won't see him we don't know if it's ears, throat or chest. Luckily the medicine seems to be working because he had started eating again and had more energy. They have an Alexa and he loves listening to music on it, he has started to say "Play we gobbledegook bus" to it but it took a while to work out he wanted Wheels on the Bus. He was so happy when we got it. He also likes playing children's music videos on my phone - usually hideous American ones and is so adept it puts me to shame. He takes my phone, finds the folder with Youtube in opens it, clicks the video, maximises the size and swivels the picture and clicks skip the ad, all in a matter of seconds. He's 20 months old next week goodness knows what he'll be doing when he's 20 years old.
Steve helped Brian repair a broken bathroom tap and hang a tricky curtain rail in their bedroom bay window. I looked after Esben while Laura finished an essay and did a work zoom call. We were supposed to be babysitting while they went to a friends birthday event in the park but that didn't happen although we stayed later than usual and listened to Murray's last set on the radio on the way home. While we were out Chris and Crystal had collected Tibs so that responsibility is out of the way.
Ruby, good luck with the flea bombs. I hope the little blighters are not as resistant as ours were. We flea bombed twice and still had them. We found flea traps effective and a spray which claimed to stop the eggs from hatching which eventually did the trick after spraying every couple of days over a week or so. It cost an absolute fortune though.
Have a good day all.11 -
Good morning & thanks nmlc.Gers what a special if slightly surreal traffic jam momentTA glad you enjoyed your trip outNothing much happening today apart from my T order shortly & a bit of a tidy round.I was quite busy in the front garden yesterday, & a lady from up the road admired my climbing rose as I was deadheading- she said I looked like I knew what I was doingWe had pork loin steaks with mixed rice last night, something from the order tonight.Hope it's a good day for you all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
Bright and sunny here and set in for the day I think so will go and meet my friend for a good dog walk this morning, I think word has spread about our little dog walking group as yesterday there was 5 people walking along with 9 dogs, there is a little new one who is a Jack Russel type who was a bit shy at first but was soon running zoomies like a little rocket with a big grin on her face
We then came home and did the flea bombs (thanks for the info Snoozer) and took all the blankets and throws and dog beds to the laundrette to wash and dry them, once we were allowed back in we cleaned every surface and hoovered through, and then each had a shower and put our clothes into wash, I have another load in this morning and despite it being sunny they will go in the TD as this helps to kill anything lingering. It has so far cost us a fortune too so im hoping this works !
DD has gone to work this morning so I will get on and do a bit of housework this morning and then get the pups out, and then take them again later this afternoon.
Not sure about dinner but we wont starve.
Gers how exciting !
Have good days all xxx10 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Get you Gers..... almost a front row seat in that traffic hold up. I guess you will be heading home for the weekend tomorrow.
We went to the meeting, a bit of a waste of time, only 4 people turned up, it was to do with the councils new policy regarding renting, what you can and cannot do. In the afternoon we had a jolly up to Hickling to try out a different place for tea/coffee and cake. As a result we did not have supper last night, just a poached egg on toast.
Waiting for a call from the Dr. DB is driving me nuts just now......I checked the info on the antib's and discovered that they are a bit of a no no if you take blood thinners. 30 years and counting is enough for anyone, but he will never alter, Precious son syndrome is to blame!!
We will have the fritatta tonight, if there are strawberries I guess they will be dessert.6 -
Sunny here but not as warm as it has been.
High pollen so Mr F is suffering.
Think we will have chilli Bratwurst in a YS panini with roasted potato chunks for dinner tonight.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
