I love collecting shells when on my hols and I have loads. I have some in a green glass bowl with some glass beads and I also put floating candles in - it looks lovely, like a little bit of starlit ocean!
I also have a small crate that some bedding plants came in (it looks like a small bread crate, about 1 foot long) and I have filled this with shells of all sizes and dotted tealights around for a lovely outdoor display.
I bought a little oblong wicker basket with a lid and have put loads of shells in this so it is open and I have a starfish stood on top of it - looks lovely in my bathroom.
And I also, as one previous poster suggested, have shells around all my pots outside to look gorgeous and hold moisture in too.
I love the sea and shells - I must have been a mermaid in a previous life!!0 -
In India they use sea shells mixed with cement instead of gravel for concreate:D
Use for drainage at the bottom of pot plants, not pretty but pratical (I'm always running out of gravel/polystyrene for this job but then I kill off the pot plants anyway)
Use at the bottom of glass vases instead of glass pebbles for flower arrangements
