VAT on office space

Hello, I am employed full time by a UK corporate.
My company has closed the office and I'm permitted to work from home. I personally don't like this and have chosen to purchase a co working membership to give me separation from the home and office. I VAT with this membership, do any members know of any way that I can claim back the VAT or does this apply to the self employed only.
Thank you.

You can only claim back VAT if you are registered for VAT and self-employed in some capacity plus have a turnover of at least £85,000 per annum1

Have you asked your employer if they will cover the cost?0

You can’t register for VAT as you aren’t making taxable supplies.I would also consider it unlikely that you can claim the cost of renting office space as an expense against your employment income.0

You can ask to be voluntarily registered for VAT at any turnover level, but you can't register for VAT just to claim VAT back on expenses of employment. It really depends on how flexible your employer is. They could become the lessee and pay the bill and recover the VAT (assuming they are registered for VAT), and reduce your salary by the net amount.JJC1956 said:You can only claim back VAT if you are registered for VAT and self-employed in some capacity plus have a turnover of at least £85,000 per annum0
