Skimlinks

Options
Just noticed the "Display Skimlinks?" box in my profile has ticked itself - don't know if this is common or not but it can lead to issues with some competitions (such as the topcashback hummingbird)

Thank you! Mine had re-ticked itself too.

Talking of the Hummingbird, I'm sure we are due on soon 🤔
They do have their Winsday today though, not sure if it has been posted or not yet...

Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

The MSE guide (slightly out of date but you can get the idea), they are turned on and off from your profile

I just read the link, and it's still as clear as mud, but I have unticked the display skimlinks box on my profile, haven't a clue what it's about, but if it's good enough for you guys...

    Thanks

Basically it can turn a clean link on here to referral link for MSE and that can cause issues with some competitions (TCB hummingbird for one) - they use similar on various links on the main site as that's how they make some money - they clearly state this and provide a clean link for the ones they post on the main site.

"If a link has an * by it, it is an affiliated link that helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.

You shouldn't notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link. For more details, read How This Site Is Financed.

Wherever we include an * link, there's a full explanation at the bottom of the page and an unaffiliated version of the same link, so you can check there's no difference."

That helps. I, sort've, get it. So now, can you please explain the plot in Line of Duty?

    Thank you
