O/S Daily Wednesday 30 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day, rain forecast for later and damp underfoot where we've had some rain in the night.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO roast beef braised in stock, with LO new potatoes, yorkshires and some extra veg and gravy. Tonight not sure, but possibly salad with jacket potato or new potatoes.
Working today until lunchtime - I have several things I want to get done this afternoon. Just tomorrow at work, then off for annual leave.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc
Yesterday was such a boiling hot day, so lovely. My two helpers both arrived wearing shorts, well those long shorts, which cheered me up. Both worked so hard to box and remove the last of the books (seven boxes) and all the kitchen equipment (four boxes). Alan loaded his car with the kitchen stuff and we took it to the church-based charity then he went off. The other chap meanwhile had packed my car so was ready when I returned. We did a tip run before delivering the books to Oxfam. It was so good to have all this done. Now everything else can wait until the flat is sold. The brilliant news is that the estate agent called me to say that there were six viewings booked for Saturday, all came in Monday late afternoon as soon as the web info was posted. 😀😀 Now it's fingers crossed that it sells fast and well. This morning it's breakfast with Alan. Later I've got some little chores to do.My thoughts are with everyone. Happy Wednesday to all.13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. GERS wow 6 viewings booked already, fingers crossed for a quick sale.
Yesterday was glorious all day long so I took advantage and sat in the garden for most of the day reading. It felt so good to be shut of the cloud cover! Sadly this morning the cloud is back again! It's forecast to remain warm and dry, just not much sun! Oh well you can't have everything!
It's bus jaunt day again. Just two of us as our third friend is having some work done and doesn't want to leave her DH in charge! We will probably end up in Skipton again as it's as nice as anywhere on a warm day, just browsing the market stalls and the occasional cs. Of course the Grand Finale will be our usual wine 'n' dine lunch and we may even splash out on our favourite Italian restaurant and take advantage when our third friend is not with us (she doesn't care for it there for some reason)
DS rang to tell me they are all isolating as his eldest ss has tested positive. He said they have confined him to his bedroom with fingers crossed he hasn't passed it on to any of them already. The youngest has only just gone back to school after a class member tested positive and now she is isolating again! It's rife among schoolchildren hereabouts and it's hopeful the upcoming summer holidays will ease the spread a bit.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of our poorlies and MIA as always. Take care one and all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Good morning everyone
It's already very warm here this morning and the sun is shining. I have just sat and scoffed a punnet of cherries, delicious, and just thinking about what else to have for breakfast. Tesco is delivering in a couple of hours and the fridge is still pretty full so I will have to have a shufty round to make some room.
I am going to be having another cooking session providing the ingredients turn up. On the menu is Moroccan soup, Vietnamese pork and something chickeny. I am usually full of beans first thing in the morning so I prefer to cook early on. Zombie husband has just lurched downstairs for a drink and then gone back up to bed. I can't blame the football as we don't watch it, I just think it's too many late nights.
I have knitted 2 princess bunnies whilst watching the tennis, I love Wimbledon, it's the only sport I watch and have done since I was little. Hopefully there will be better weather today for it.
Gers, you are going great guns on clearing the flat. Soon you will be able to rest at your home knowing you did an amazing job x
nmlc, I hope you enjoy your leave and get to relax a bit x
I have decided on weetabix so I am off to make a bowl full. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx11 -
Morning all well today is the first day in however long i dont have to go to the old house .Today is completion day I did the final clean yesterday . I am shattered i did threaten DH if he had to work during the move I would employ a professional company to pack up and move us but the skinflint in me couldn't do it but i will next time it has been hard going getting everything out and skips loaded and the house cleaned in 9 days still by tonight we will be mortgage free and just be paying one lot of bills.
Nmic Sorry to hear work isn't so good
Gers You have made some real progress its tough I still need to sort what we have brought back and some things that were here . I can recommend the selling board on here particularly the waiting to exchange thread on there they are very helpful and can be relied upon to point you in the right direction
Hester hope you and Steve are doing ok
Marie if your reading along I hope you are ok
Nels I miss your posts and I hope the hands are behaving
TA Enjoy the wine and dine Boo to covid that seems rife in the schools so difficult for the parents

Hi everyone,
Just a quick one because we will be off to Laura's in less than an hour.
Chris and Crystal completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks walk in 12hours 12minutes, they were hoping for less than 12 hours but I think it was pretty good going. Apparently Crystal, her sister and partner were all very stiff and sore but Chris was running up and down stairs after they finished, he's a bit of a freak in that respect, despite not doing much in the way of structured exercise he seems to maintain his fitness easily.
It looks as if it's going to rain here today. Have a good day all.12 -
Morning All
A quick 5 mins on here for me, DGD eating scrambled eggs and toast, DGS having apple and grapes having already eaten a bowl of cereal, a jelly and a yoghurt!
We went to a little island yesterday with DD and the little one - great excitement as we had to get a ferry. Glorious weather so the DGC played on the beach then went checking the rock pools (we now have lots of smelly shells!), picnic lunch and chips for tea, the perfect day!
Going for a walk up a big hill (not really very big but the children think it's a mountain!) then must go for supplies, they are eating me out of house and home.
Ruby - can't believe the solicitor acted in that way, shocking.
Gers - hoping the flat sale goes smoothly.
Happy new home bella.
Hugs to those in need.
Right, time to put out another load of washing! Take care. XX

Morning all
Dull and overcast here but im hoping the sun will come out later, OH is off today as he has an appointment so not sure about dog walking ect I may get a day off from it !
We are going to flea bomb the house today, despite fleaing the dogs and cleaning and washing everything they are still hereso I have bought flea bombs and we will do each room, we will remove the blankets and throws etc and take them to the laundrette to wash as we have to be out for two hours, the dogs will go out too to the in laws and my mum, the house will need to be aired before they can come back in, I really hope this works as they are really annoying us now.
I need to go and get something out of the freezer for dinner but it wont be able to stay out cos of the flea bombs so i will have to go in the fridge till later.
Bella well done on completion day hope all goes well xxx
Gers wow six viewings fingers crossed that its a quick sale xxx

Afternoon all, it seems quiet on here atm - I hope everyone is ok and just doing the garden , going on trips etc etc.Gers great news on the viewings.TA back to being dull here too after being nice yesterday & this morning. I had a trip to town on the bus yesterday morning, it was quite depressing, so many shops gone and very quiet. Just got a few bits from Marks and HB, and a walk round then hopped back on the bus to be greeted with a hello from my DB2, he'd left his car at his friends and was picking it up. It was a shock to see him on a bus, don't think that's happened since we were in our teensIn the afternoon I went to post a letter and by chance ended up walking round with a neighbour & her dog to the park as we were chatting. Made lasagne for tea then watched the football.DS1 went to the pub to meet his brother and some mates. Good resultNo other news so stay safe and well xPork steaks for tea, not sure what with yet:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
