Portable AC suggestions

I am looking to buy a portable ac unit for my bedroom. I only need a 9000 BTU unit. I have been looking at a Morris 9000BTU portable ac with WiFi as I like the idea of being able to control it on my phone. I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions?

Look at the noise levels - most portable AC units can be quite noisy - not always good to sleep with one rattling away next to your bed. Some are quieter than others. Many come with remote controls - I wouldn't bother with a wifi option unless the machine was particularly quiet.1

There's an impromptu solution which can be quite effective, given how short a time each year where AC is needed (and the poor results most 'affordable' units produce). Try a large bowl of ice cubes, with a fan angled so that air flows just above the bowl and in your direction.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0

Although not, portable. My air con isn’t on a short amount of time each year, I use it as air con, heating and as a dehumidifier, definitely not poor results. It’s cheaper than central heating, I removed all my radiators. Only maintenance is a yearly service and gassing which it hasn’t needed yet in 2 years so far.Marcon said:There's an impromptu solution which can be quite effective, given how short a time each year where AC is needed (and the poor results most 'affordable' units produce). Completely portable. I use it and just pick up the fan and take it from one room to the next - ditto the bowl of ice!sarah1972 said:

I've been thinking about purchasing this - does anyone know if it will work in our bungalow?

It will work after a fashion. 12,000 BTU would normally only be the heat gain in a couple of rooms, so it might not keep the entire bungalow cool, but it is portable, so you can move it from a living room during the day to a bedroom at night. However, it is so noisy that you will struggle to sleep with it on.
If you want a quiet airconditioning in the bedroom, you need to find a different unit. You should look for a unit that is no more than 35dB.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0
