O/S Daily Monday 28 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast and has just started raining, forecast for on and off all day.
DH up and gone to work, DS1 now getting ready and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast beef etc, it was lovely. Some LO's so another meal. Tonight will be fish, salad or the LO's.
I'm expecting work to be manic again but only have this week then annual leave and I can't wait. We really need some time off and away.
Visited family yesterday too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.Yesterday I had a leisurely drive back down to Glasgow, mostly because of the volume of traffic. When I arrived I picked up something to eat (no fridge is a pain in summer) and then did more bag filling. Tomorrow is when more major work will be done, probably ten more boxes of books and also the huge amount of kitchen equipment which is all wrapped up and piled on the floor. Yet more boxes! I'll have Alan and my 'lent' man from last week to do all the heavy lifting and carrying. In a piece of good news, yesterday afternoon the downstairs neighbour buzzed up to say he'd found my wee purse in his garden. 🎉😀 It must have been found and just chucked in there. All cards and small amount of cash all intact. Of course I'd cancelled the cards so had to chop them up. I also managed to cancel my order for a new purse.I'll be going back to CS this morning and maybe the tip though it had a fire yesterday so I need to check that it's open otherwise it's a trip to another one.My thoughts are with our missing and poorlies. Happy Monday to all.13

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's fine here and not too cold, though last night was distinctly chilly.Sorry to read that you'd lost your purse Gers, it must have been a horrible feeling when you realised you'd lost it.I was busy yesterday using up some veg that I didn't want to take with me to the caravan - we only have a small fridge in the van. I had a full head of celery that a neighbour had given me from her veg box delivery, she doesn't like it, so I turned it into soup and have frozen it in bags, finished off a cucumber at lunchtime, and turned some potatoes into mash. I think I buy too many potatoes. We'll be back on Saturday, hope we don't have too much rain!Thinking of Nanny and Mr Fixit, and others who aren't well.Take care folks13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Hope today is not as manic as you are expecting it to be. Another fine day is forecast for us but, yet again, it looks as though sun will be in short supply. I am missing my garden reads. It's not the same sitting outside under cloud cover. Maybe July will deliver lots of sunshine!
I have an early Iceland delivery this morning and a text tells me I have nothing missing. It's mostly a stock-up of household supplies, long life milk and a few frozen items. I avoid their fresh f & v if I can.
Other than that not much else is happening at Casa Abuela, though I may stick to my promise of weed spotting and keep up to pulling out any that I see. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. SCARLET enjoy your little jaunt. GERS it sounds like today and tomorrow will be yet more busy days for you. Have a good day folks if you can and take care xx

Morning all wet and drizzly here penultimate day at the old house .Yesterday we broke all the old settees up for the skip and DS bedroom furniture none of it was fit to be given away so that will be loaded up today I cleaned all the downstairs cupboards and dealt with all the local selling pages collections . Today will be the last boxes of stuff to bring home ,fill the skip and clean all the upstairs wardrobes ,floors and bathroom and close the doors on those .Tomorrow will probably be just me and i will wash all the downstairs floors and then that as they say will be it i shall drop the keys at the estate agents and never darken the doorstep of the old house again the last few years haven't been good and the area has gone downhill rapidly and I shall honestly be glad to go I will miss my close neighbours hugely but I need to do what's right for us.
Hugs to all our poorlies and those looking after them I hope after Wednesday that I will have more time to catch up on everyones news. Have a good day whatever you are to x

Morning all, thanks nmlc - it's dull here, sounds similar to you TA, & it went chilly last night but better today. We just had a very chilled out day yesterday apart from a trip to Lidly as I wanted to replenish my store cupboard items like nuts and cooking & olive oil and it's cheaper there. DH bought himself a prawn tikka masala for tea tonight so I'll be making a chicken one for DS & myself later. We have some nice samosas we got from the farmers market last week too. We also nipped to b&queue as I wanted a new blind, but I didn't like the ones that were the right size. I did a lot of reading tooUsual Sat football to watch DGS, at least we get out of the house and can talk to the other parents/grandparents who are a nice bunch. We went back to DS2's for a bit after & had bacon butties.Hugs to the poorly people & warm wishes to all, especially Gers and Bella after all the hard work.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Raining again getting really fed up with this now, yesterday just after I posted about what a lovely day it was it started to rain again and stayed for the day so it was another soggy dog walk for us
Today I am taking mum to the solicitor to have her will changed, this is the third attempt as it keeps being cancelled by mum or the solicitor so I hope today goes ahead. I am then collecting nephew no 2 to take him for a haircut and beard trim although im not convinced he will actully go but we will see ! I have promised him lunch out afterwards so I am hoping he will come.
Need to have a quick tidy round this morning and then get the dogs out for a quick walk before we go. Dinner tonight will be pork chops with some kind of potato and some veg.
Gers glad you found your purse, hope the next few days go well xx
Bella good luck to you the next few days sound busy xxx
Scarlett have a good break xx
Nels thinking of you and your poorly hands xxx
Have good days all xx10 -
Morning, Hugs if you need them. Gers, glad your purse turned up.
Its a dreich morning, grey skies and raining, laundry will go in the dryer this morning.
WE did a bit of gardening yesterday, I cut down a plant that was spreading all over the path, it has spread so its going to have to come out and be split. DB picked another bowls of strawberries, we are beginning to look like strawberries. Reminds me of when we had the allotment and I sold enough strawberries to pay for the next years seed.
DB has an appointment to get a 24 hour monitor fitted, waste of time really but the Dr has asked for it. The greenhouse is due after lunch as well.........
Supper tonight will be chicken and salad possibly a baked spud. Its really cold here this morning, tempted to put the heat on, even DB has said he feels cold.7 -
Morning all. Dull and grey and damp today after a spectacular amount of rain that fell like hammers last night. Water butts are full again luckily. The tomatoes will be happy. Didn't do an awful lot over the weekend, went out a couple of times to fetch freebie plants. After going out for lunch three times in a row [nice and not scary] I was quite happy to sit and do nothing. Except a few hours of tidying, pottering and pruning in the garden, relocating all the stuff that should be in the shed back to the shed and we laid a few of the patio slabs hanging around, he did the turf removal, I did the levelling. I'm orf to welsh wales today for the week so I probably won't be posting, me and the tablet don't really get on for typing. I haven't seen my sister since last January and my cousin too, so that will be nice. I'll be staying in my own house too so hopefully no rule breaking going on about staying in other peoples houses. It's going to be musty and dusty..So that'll need cleaning too. I might take my super duper cordless with me...
And my ladder to get what's left in the loft out. And a torch... the list is getting longer....
How nice to find your purse again Gers even if there will be nothing in it for a bit...Bella happy new/old house. I'm sure you'll be happy in your house as you were in your old house. Ruby, hoe you manage to persuade him out. Asking directly was obviously not a no no. Scarlet, enjoy your jaunt! TA, sorry about your boiler... I'm off to shower and stir myself and drive very gingerly to Wales. Hope it's not raining too much...I'll wave as I'm going past nanny...Have a good week all...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
