Santander info

Options
The house I'm buying was devalued by Halifax so I'm trying again through santander. The valuation has been done last Thurs so I'm awaiting my mortgage offer now. They've now cone back wanting more statements from bank. Do you think they would tell me if the house has been down valued or just give me an offer of what they are willing to lend?

I assume someone visited in person (I remortgaged with Santander last year but only had a desktop valuation). The valuers report may not be finished/processed yet. In my case Santander let me know the valuation was complete but not what figure the had come up with (though it was enough as the remortgage went through fine). Do they have an online portal you can check rhe progrss of the application on?
  • Yes a quick visit according to estate agent. Can't check as being done through a broker. Do you think even it could still be undervalued and they still write it up? Dreading waiting weeks after reading on here and still bad news

A valuation done on Thursday may not see the report returned to the lender to the surveyor for three to four working days and Santander may not assess the report immediately is has been received. Any downvaluation will be reported to your broker. Santander will not simply amend the application itself.

  • OK finger crossed. I'm just reading all these bad things about santander taking weeks to do mortgages. Valuation took place now 10 days ago so was just hoping I would have heard something!? If they weren't valuing it at what I have offered?
