O/S Daily Thursday 24 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day, dry at the moment but rain is forecast for later.
DH up and getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was sausage and bbq beans with dumplings casserole, it is so simple but tastes so good, no LO's. Not sure what we're having tonight.
Last day of work for me today for this week, then just next week and we're off for annual leave and I can't wait.
Keep safe and welll x

Good morning everyone
I'm up early again as I want to get a head start on more cooking for the freezer. Yesterday was successful in that I made 5 foil containers of keema pie, 4 containers of sticky lemon chicken and cooked dinner as well of Italian chicken, new potatoes and loads of veg. Today I have a kilo of chicken thighs to be made into something delicious and a pack of pork mince.
My eldest daughter's appointment went well and she was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia. The doctors have increased her medication and advised some lifestyle changes. She was happy with that but when she got home there was a shock for her. Her lovely little cat Salem has turned out to be a Salemina by producing 4 little kittens. My daughter is not happy as she had just paid for her other cat to be spayed as she had had several sets of kittens.
In other news, my sister now has a date for her operation. It is the 5th of July and while she was telling us about it on the family chat, my brother signed in to say he had just broken his leg at work. My phone didn't stop pinging for hours.
Phoebe has invited her friend over after work. They haven't seen each other since before lockdown started so have loads to catch up on. I think Phoebe wants to ask her friend if she would think about going in with her to rent somewhere. At the moment there isn't anywhere suitable locally but she is keeping her eyes open for a house or flat where she will be allowed to take her cat.
Ok, the kettle is calling. Hope you all have a great day, take care xx11 -
Morning All
Overcast again with rain due later, not complaining as the garden does need it, yesterday's rain only just about wet the pavements. Washing going on the pulley, seem to be keeping up with it for now.
Lovely afternoon tea at work for a retiring member of staff, good job it wasn't planned for today as her and her class are now isolating after a positive case. I spent over an hour sending out all the emails last night, seemed like the work day would never end! I'm staying away from everyone today in case there are more cases, it would be a shame to get so close to the end of term and then have to isolate during the holidays.
Shopping to do for friends across the road, the DD has covid so they are all home too. I can see some dog walking duties coming on but that's not a bad thing.
Last day of term, what doesn't get done can wait, really looking forward to 1pm!
Hope everyone's well, take care. XX9 -
Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.Yesterday the electrician was slightly delayed so I decided to do vacuum behind a now empty bookcase. After a couple of minutes the socket stopped working, perfect timing! Now there's a great new consumer unit, two fixed sockets and he also changed a bulb in the hall for me.Meanwhile I was still sorting papers. I opened a shoe box to find piles of letters which my DM sent to her family in 1941 - 1943. Looks like at least once a week. Then there's a series of letters to DM from a school friend. And a pile of letters from DM's brother to her from the 90s and 00s. All are going to be sent to my cousin in Berlin. Yesterday I packed three big padded envelopes up. More to do today. This morning the surveyor is coming. In Scotland the survey, Home Report, is done by the seller and only done once. I have to open all the doors to 'avoid contact' for the surveyor. 😄 After he's done I'll go to the post office and take some bags to the CS.
It's all very difficult emotionally but will soon be over. I've booked an afternoon tea for Alan and myself for next week at The Willow Tearooms. He's been so good in helping me that he deserves a wee treat, and so do I. 🎉
My thoughts to all our poorlies. Happy Thursday to all.11 -

DD cancelled our meeting, yesterday, we'll catch up in the next day or two.Hope everyone is ok and has a good day, take care folks.11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. It looks a bit drab outside but the much needed rain isn't due until through the night. Even then it's only forecast to be light rain. We need a good downpour for it to do any good.
The much postponed weeding and tidying of the front garden was tackled at last yesterday morning. Blooming 'eck the ground was so dry you'd think those weeds were set in concrete!! They took some shifting. I have promised myself I will keep up to the job now and then it shouldn't be as much of an ordeal. I had just finished when I noticed someone pushing a pram along the end and she gave me a wave. I had no idea who it was but waved back. As she got nearer I could see it was an old work colleague who I haven't seen for ages. Her DD has moved up here and she was babysitting. She goes from the thread to the needle telling you everything so it was a long conversation! But saying that it was lovely to see her again.
It's the usual Thursday jobs this morning - a good clean of the kitchen and bathroom. Then maybe feet up reading this afternoon. If the sun appears that may be enjoyed outside. I have a delivery of Sparkle's Hi-Life this afternoon too so I must keep an ear open for that..
Following on from yesterday's tale of possible Covid infections at DGD's school, it was confirmed two children (twins) had tested positive so Year 6 are all in isolation and the residential trip cancelled. They hope to re-arrange something before end of term as there will be lots of disappointed children.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those just plain fed up. Take care all xx
Editing to wish BELLA good luck and hoping all goes to plan tomorrow. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -

Morning all..Day two of lunches out. Yesterdays was quite nice and didn't break the diet, phew, a 'Superfood Salad' with a bit of feta. The chair turned out to have a fair few cat scratches on it which weren't mentioned previosuly, but I have googled how to repair so I'm on it. OH wasn't particularly happy I fetched it, or rather he carried it, but he has stolen it from me for his gaming chair so he can't be that unhappy. He just kept spinning on it, and leaning back on it, and making it creak so I got out the engineers friend [WD40] and gave it a massive spray. No more creaks...I did a couple of loads of washing and they went on the line. Good job, because today is drizzly. And the car has been hoovered to within and inch...No nanny, I don't want to do that again in a hurry
I'm so tired this morning..I feel what my sister calls a little snooch coming on...
Good luck tomorrow Bella...Gers, that's a nice thing to do. Dumpling, yeah...but...kittens man! How cute!! Camelot, sounds like it's spreading it's way round again. Our numbers are doubling every week but they're still quite low. DP1, I bought myself one two years ago. When they first came out I was really anti and no! books are for life not just christmas! but I have really appreciated it and now I love it. Trouble is, buying new ones is way too easyHave a good day all if you can, hope your weather is giving you what you want...
