Need help understand how tax payments with self assessment, balancing payments work

    From what you've posted it looks like the next time you would have anything to pay now wouldn't be until 31 January 2023  :)
    lol,  i hope thats the case :)  
    One of my taxable benefits is a petrol card,  due to lockdown i never really used it much, but my understand is that unless its business mileage then im due to tax on it,  so ive roughly calculated that im spending about 80 a month on petrol so im putting 32.00 a month into my tax account for that now that im started using it.

    It should be the case as the ‘80% of liability already deducted at source’ rule will almost certainly apply.

    I havent had the P11D yet but I bet our accountant has not declared anything so I dont know how HRMC would calculate it until they see the P11D figures. 
  • HMRC wouldn't calculate your liability, you have self assessed it.

    If you haven't got your P11D yet how did you approach this on your return?  Did you estimate the benefit?
