Harassed by a Debt Collection Agency

Options
Hi there,

Just after a bit of advice.

I'm being harassed by a debt collection agency who are claiming I owe money to their client.

Their client bought a service on a website which my company used to own (I'm the director of the company).

However, my company details were still on the contact us page and now their client is disputing the payment (I've since updated my details on the website).

I've informed the new company to handle this but the debt collector is still chasing me (they work on a no win no fee commission model).

Can you help me answer 3 questions please:

1. As a director of private limited company am I liable for the debts of the company if the debt is proven in court?
2. Does the debt collector need to prove the claim via small claims court before any legal action is taken i.e CCJ, bailiffs
3. Does the debt collector need to contact the current company in which the payment was handled?

Thank you for your help!
