    Thank you loveactually and Hazelnutty.

After many hours having scans and speaking to the specialist this morning...

It's a relief as they were also thinking it could've... - both of these are ruled out now. While it's still concerning it's a much more positive outcome than those and a weight off our shoulders.

We might get a semi-celebratory takeaway tonight depending on how he feels so may be a small spend but if not we've got food in and I've brought lunch to the office, so should be no other spends.

Glad you have more info about your partner. I'm going to assume that they have told him to be careful to avoid bangs on the head and to go back ASAP if there's any repeat (even mild) of the symptoms? I hope he's feeling better anyway.

Glad to hear that it isn’t some thing more serious. Wishing him a quick recovery

Wishing your OH all the best. My OH has a brain malformation so I have some understanding of what it's like to live with brain conditions and with all the uncertainties they bring

Yes, if he shows any more symptoms it's a 999 call and straight to the nearest stroke or neurology hospital. Fortunately they've said it probably won't happen again. He's now being referred to an even more specialised specialist to decide the next steps.

Thank you. Fingers crossed it will stay quite low level but still rather unnerving and it'll undoubtedly be a life long condition.

  • Morning all. Wednesday ended up being an NSD as we decided to just eat at home rather than get anything in. Thursday was also NSD as I brought food to the office and cooked one of our planned dinners.

Today is going to possibly be a spend day. I've taken today off work and with the OH we're going to do some London touristy things. All tickets have been booked and paid for a while back but we might end up getting a small lunch out - shouldn't be more than £10 if we do.

OH's mum is coming over this evening after all the medical issues and she's taking us out to a local upmarket Chinese restaurant for dinner. Not the kind of place I'd usually go as I think it's a bit expensive for what you get, but she's paying so who am I to argue!

    Have a great day everyone!

  • Evening all!

Not long back from the countryside after a weekend away for our anniversary. OH was told he couldn't drive for a month after his medical episode so I had to do all the driving. It was slightly unnerving at first as I haven't driven for about 5 years and I've never driven any long distances. But I settled in and ended up driving 250 miles over the weekend.

It was a lovely break. The weather was intermittent but we had a fair bit of sun and managed to visit some nice historical sites. We had 2 meals out - our anniversary dinner last night and a Sunday pub lunch today. However they totalled just over £50 so kept it as MSE as possible! There were also a few little spends here and there - some ice cream, a beer to drink in the Airbnb, etc - which totalled £12 max.

OH also insisted on buying a picnic blanket for some reason. He isn't very MSE :|. I made him get the cheapest one at £20.

On Friday we ended up getting lunch out but that was under £10. OH's mum came down in the evening and took us and his brother out for an upmarket Chinese - it cost over £170 for the 4 of us! :o Glad she was paying...

This week should be low spend. I've just finished meal planning and updated the Tesco order. The vouchers they sent us last week didn't work so I spent ages on the phone trying to sort it - they just decided to give us a £20 cash refund in the end. Working from home most of the week.

Unfortunately it looks like there's some big spends coming up. We desperately need a new mattress - our one is way too bouncy and is causing some causing some terrible nights of sleep. I also need some new suit trousers and some new work shoes. This'll all come from my "big spend" Pot fortunately but still annoying.

Anyway if you've made it through my stream of consciousness to this stage, well done  Have a wonderful week!

Don't forget to see if quidco or topcashback will earn you some money bck when you buy big things. You can always see if your chosen shop does cashback and order online once you're home after you have visited the shop and made your choice in person.
