This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks.Yesterday I had a very gentle day without much stress for a change. I did an early trip to the big Barnardos with more stuff for them, dropped off a return parcel for Amazon and then did a little shopping. I began wrapping plates and bowls in the kitchen ready to go, there are so many bowls! Some of them I put through the DW. I also found two drawers in the Welsh dresser full of more packets of tea. 🤭DM's friend came for a brief visit to collect some books. In the early evening I was invited out for my tea 😀 first time in ages that's happened. And in another first I ate a plate of curry and enjoyed it. I didn't stay long even though I was really enjoying the company and was soon in bed.A letter arrived from DWP telling me of an overpayment of DM's State Pension, just one week, so I did a bank transfer immediately and got that off my plate.Today will be gentle too. An old friend of DM's is coming to collect a sculpture that DM did of her daughter's head 24 years ago. DM had suggested I offer it to the daughter, an offer which she jumped at.I hope that everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend, walks, friends, family and dogs. My beloved Dad is in my mind this Father's Day.Happy Sunday to all.12

Morning folks and thanks GERS for the start. Enjoy your peaceful day. My lovely Dad is in my thoughts too. It's 42 years since he suddenly left us, far too young to be taken, and I have never stopped missing him.
At last we have had a bit of rain overnight but I think it's only been a fine mizzle, certainly not enough to water everything. Now we have a day of cloud ahead according to the forecast. I have chosen the wrong day to strip the bed! The bedding may be festooning the upstairs unless a bit of brightness appears.
My trip into town yesterday finally involved wandering beyond the bus station area! Oh dear so many shops haven't re-opened and the ones that were open were very quiet. I guess everybody has got used to shopping online. We've even lost a couple of charity shops which says it all. Such a shame when I think back to what a busy little town it used to be.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those with worries and woes. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar, DS1 still in his pit, but he'll come out with us. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy start to the day, wet underfoot with laying water after rain during the night. More rain forecast for today.
Dinner last night was chicken and bacon pasta bake, stuffed peppers, chicken portion for menfolk, calamari rings and garlic bread. Today we're having quick food as visiting DH elderly relative this morning.
We'll be having as chilled day as possible before returning to work tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone
Had a quiet day yesterday as my mouth is till quite painful from my dental work on Friday. I have a lovely bruise of the dentist's thumb - there will be questions at nursery tomorrow! I did go for a lovely long walk late afternoon with DD, little one and their puppy.
Little one has a chest infection and is coughing a lot. One of her medical problems is that she can't drink liquids - they seem to go onto her lungs rather than into her stomach and then cause a chest infection. Well she drank some water in the bath on Thursday night and was put straight onto antibiotics. Hopefully it will clear up quickly. Going down to mam and dads this morning to do his banking, order more audible books and write his email to DD in Germany. Little one might come for a play and tea later, depending on how she's feeing.
Hope everyone has a good day

Very quick post from me.
Gers, you are doing a magnificent job up there. I'm doing a much more unmagnificent job down here with my old friends flat. He is adamant that he wants everything of his beloved wife's out of the place. He doesn't want to open cupboards and drawers and be faced with all her stuff. Especially clothes. Easier said than done. Imelda Marcos, eat your heart out!
TA, it is also the anniversary of my Dad's death. Father's Day 2011 he left us. He would have been 107 had he lived. Hardly likely, I know, but he was so stubborn that it would never have surprised me.
I'm having my favourite for lunch today, pork belly slices, roasted long and slow until it is crisp and melt in the mouth.
Enjoy your day. xI believe that friends are quiet angels

Hi everyone,
dp1 I hope little one recovers soon. Esben has a cough after a cold which seems to be getting worse, I think Laura will call the Dr tomorrow but he could really do with someone listening to his chest.
I was right about feeling tired yesterday, I fell asleep on the settee in the afternoon which is very unusual for me. I try to avoid napping usually because it stops me sleeping at night although last night was OK.
Today will probably be another quiet day, maybe spaghetti bolognaise for dinner, we'll see.
Have a good day, especially the poorlies.13 -
Morning All
Dull this morning but yesterday started out that way so we may see some sunshine.
I had a busy outside day yesterday, allotment to weed the beds then did some general tidying. After that home to weed my own garden, looks so much better now.
Just off for my second jag, will walk down there to save waiting the 15 mins and will do some shopping on my way back.
Bathrooms cleaned, 10 jars of rhubarb and ginger jam made yesterday, more to do today.
Happy Sunday, take care. XX11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers well done for having a quietish day yesterday.
Its raining this morning. DB is 88 today, we are going out for lunch, will then come back and have a quiet day, I could do with a bit of a nap after yesterday.
It had rained during the night, the morning was dry but cloudy. We set off about 11.30 and got to the garden just at 12pm, there were quite a few cars in the car park. We had a walk round a wonderful garden, did not manage the whole 30acres, there were plenty of seats so an occasional rest was good, we both managed to walk further than we thought although I was tired after the horrendous journey down. A very pleasant cream tea was enjoyed before we returned to out ' unit'.
As we are going out for lunch, we have just had scrambled eggs on toast, orange juice and coffee, lots of people coming in for breakfast, it seems to be a popular place for eating, the restaurant was full last night as well. We have booked a table for tomorrow night. I need to fill up the car, our stop start journey down really depleted the fuel.
