Should I pay Import Tax on Item purchase from business in EU BUT... Shipped from UK warehouse?

Long story short

There is an item of furniture (office desk) that I am thinking of buying from a company based in the EU but, it would be shipped from their warehouse here in the UK (I am in the UK also).

They state on their website that buyers outside of the EU will be charged an import tax as set by their respective govenments.

As I am in England, so is thier warehouse, should I be charged the import tax as I wount be importing it as it is already in the country?

No, you pay the VAT to the EU country, whatever the VAT is.

There is not duties on EU goods and vice versa from us to them.

    So you're fine.

Import tax is just VAT and duty charges.

eBy seems to think VAT is based o the location of the seller, not the product. Pre-Brexit, I've received American books sent from Germany and France.

Get a quote from them and see what it says.
If the item is manufactured in the EU then it should be covered by the free-trade deal and thus not subject to Import Duty.
UK VAT should be charged (but not in addition to the seller's country tax).

Hi everyone and thank you for your advice.

I am sorry that I have not replied until now but I have been dealing with a family situation.

The item is an office desk.
The manufacturer is based in Slovenia but they have a UK warehouse / distribution center from where the desk would be shipped.
Slovenia is in the EU but as we are not I am trying to get my head around this.
I may be completely wrong but as the item would already be in the UK I would have thought the company importing it would have been charged import tax?
