O/S Daily Friday 18 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 up and gone off to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy overcast and raining to start the day here, looks set in for the day.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had baked fish, LO slice of the med. veg tart and veg. Tonight will be something easy.
Today I have the normal "to do" list that starts with food shopping this morning I also need to organise 2 x birthday gifts and 3 x fathers day prezzies. So plenty to go at today.
Yesterday work was busy - I had plenty to go at there too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc, you've got a busy day ahead.Yesterday flew by with lots of activity. DM's friend came to collect some bits and pieces which he wanted, plus a bag of DM's spectacles which he'll drop off at the optician for recycling. The cleaner arrived too, she set to whilst my nephew did more of putting things in cupboards. He then had the idea of not putting everything away but sorting it first and taking away unwanted stuff immediately rather than doing it later, so we did that. Now I don't have to handle it again. 😀 Sometimes the most simple ideas are the best.Once we had finished we eventually had time to eat. He then had an even more brilliant idea. After talking about it the outcome is that a big strong member of his Glasgow staff is coming here on Tuesday to box up all the books and put them in my car for me. Then they can go to to a CS. Most generous of my nephew ❤️ Then he went off to the airport and flew back down south. I was pooped so climbed into bed to watch the Sewing Bee, I could barely keep my eyes open for it.This morning is when the photographer is coming from the estate agency so I need to get myself up soon and do the final tweaks and put out the flowers. No doubt she'll want things moved around.I realise that I've not been engaging with others here too much recently, I'm sorry. I do read everything and enjoy it, for now I'm rather self-absorbed. Once next week is finished then I can relax and get home for some feet-up time.I hope tryst you're all doing well. CAMELOT - enjoy end of term!
Happy Friday to all.12 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Cool and overcast here I'm planning a lazy today as I've had very little sleep and tomorrow is busy.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Once again we have escaped the rain and there doesn't sound much hope of getting any today either. The garden/pots are bone dry and need a good downpour. It's unlike me to pray for rain but needs must!
Nothing exciting in store today other than the usual Friday Tidy and I feel half doped before I start. Another rubbish night to thank for that.
My hair got trimmed yesterday and thankfully she wasn't too scissor happy this time!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. GERS dare I say it, but the end is sounding almost in sight. I hope the photo session goes well. Take care one and all and be safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning all
Its pouring with rain here and has been most of the night its seems to be set in for the day as well, oh well it will be a wet dog walk this morning !!
I have the shopping to collect later on and then I am going to have a rest this afternoon, yesterday I cleaned up the stairs but did not do the top landing as it was just too hot so I will save that for next week.
Dinner tonight will be pizza and salad although its actually feeling a bit cold so may change that.
DW needs empyting and I will have a quick hoover round before the dog walk, will mop later as Im sure we will come back with muddy paws !!
I heard from work yesterday and I am going to go back on the 1st Sept, I suspect something is afoot as they wont confirm that I will be doing my old job, I asked them directly yesterday and just got a lot of non comittal answers back, I have a feeling they want me up at the other cafe which is not client based and gets so busy and I just dont think I am fit enough for that any more, I told them I am worried about it and losing sleep but they still wont confirm, if this is the case I will have to start looking for another job as I physically cant do that one, which is a shame because I love that job.
Gers dont worry at all about not engaging - you have more than enough on your plate xx
Have good days all xx12 -

Gers Hope all goes well with estate agent today. No need to apologise for being self-absorbed - you have so much to deal with just now. Hopefully you'll get back to your cottage in the countryside soon.
I have work this morning, then had to take the afternoon off for what will be an unpleasant appointment at the dentist. 4 teeth to come out and a denture fitted. He knows my low pain thresh hold so I'll be vey well anaesthetised and will probably sleep the rest of the day. I would have rather had implants but unfortunately they're too expensive for me.
Right, better get a move on
Camelot do you break up today? We have 4 weeks left. We live right on the Scottish border and for her last couple of years at school, my youngest DD went a few miles over the border to school in Scotland. Was very strange when I had English holidays and she had Scottish!
Hope everyone has a good day12 -
Morning all from mehefinland
Just popped in to say hi, and I'm still here!
At long last Scoobymare has 4 shoes on and is sound (where's the fanfare emoji?)
Lagan longneck has had a recurrence of the lymphaginitis and her leg is up like a balloon. Shot a load of anti-biotics down her neck and hopefully she will be sorted. Don't really want the vet out again.
Just plodding along otherwise.
Hey Nanny, hope the Velindre visits are going ok. Its a pain getting there, but parking is so much better these days. Mrs m always tried to get the early appointments, which meant getting up at crack of dawn, but the traffic was so much better.
My lovely neighbour's GD aged 7 has just been given her bell ceremony appointment in August. Poor mite has had a rough time so some good news for them at last.
Hugs ansd spoons as always

Morning all. What a rotten day day outside; raining and rather dark.
I'm coming to slowly this morning as I stayed up later than intended reading my book. Luckily there isn't much on today although I have booked a pub lunch for DH and myself. Pretty sure it's an inside table!
I'm another one not keen on this new layout. Goodness knows why they feel the need to change something that was perfectly fine.
I guess a bit of housework beckons; cleaning and dusting need to be done. Later on DH will be watching the football and I'll be upstairs on a Zoom music session.
Have a good day everyone.12 -
Morning all, raining! yay! My water butts are being replenished and the stuff in the garden is loving it although I have already picked up five massive snails and sent them on an airborne journey somewhere else in the garden. And it is cooler so no hot sweaty at night awakenings. Yesterday I had the treat of seeing someone on a local gardenings groups garden [and picking up some freebies obviously]. It was beautiful. Very long but not especially wide there were twists and turns everywhere and good deal of the jungle type planting I love with massive palms making journeys through. And so peaceful! And a beautiful wooden greenhouse...I really have garden envy. Apparently there's a weekend of local gardens opeing in a couple of weeks so I'll do my best to go to some of those. I also booked my car in for several appointments to sort out the exhaust, the [as I now know] auxuilary belt and the bumper [ still held on by wire after an unfortunate me-turning-too-soon-out-of-the-drive and ripping it off on the gate during last years lockdown]Today I will learn some more italian [ I can almost speak about things in the future now] , whizz with hoover, go through the house playing I Spy with my Decluttering Eye, look at what else I can use up from the cupboard of foodly delights and give the dowstairs toilet a clean along with the kitchen floor. Or at least, that's the plan-ish. I think I will also go through my paintings and see which ones are not worth keeping, some of the canvasses can go to be reused by a friend. There aren't many left but what there is can be consolidated I think.Gers, don't worry about paying attention, you are busy paying attention IRL. Mehefin, what's a bell ceremony? Ruby, hope theygive you something you can do when you go back. It's easy to over estimate what you can and can't do after treatment, so stick to your guns...Wl, yes, it's a bit weird. I'm being constantly surprised by the big red boxes all over the page, it's very eyeball jarring...nanny, hope it's going OK for you both, all the travelling must be tiring on top of everything else. Hope everyone is doing as good as they can, enjoy the rain if you need butts filling, curse it if you need washing drying! Have a good one today in thought if not in deedNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

-Taff. a 'bell ceremony' takes place when a patient has finished all their chemo/radiography etc treatment. They get to ring a big bell to celebrate. Quite moving I suspect!

Just a quick one, hugs if you need one.
We are off on our first jolly for 16 months, I had to cancel last years thanks to YKW.
Insurance people came yesterday, carpet has been cleaned after DB's blood letting, just one very small patch left, hardly noticeable, and I did not have to pay the excess.!!!! They have rung this morning to confirm we are happy with what they have done.
Last minutes jobs, almost finished packing, bed changed, remade and sheets etc in the dryer, it very grey and wet, not that I mind it much cooler.
Fish and chips for lunch, then off we go.9
