Annual Leave Entitlement

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me work out my annual leave entitlement. I work 35 hours a week over 4 days. My contract states basic annual leave entitlement is 29 days per leave year based on a working pattern of 5 days per week. in addition there are 7 public holidays during each leave year. It mentioned nothing about compressed hours or my working pattern specifically.

Would anyone be able to advise on how many days I am entitled to?

Many thanks in advance!

Where do you live?  There are normally 8 "public holidays" each calendar year.

Do you work the same number of hours (8 hrs 45 mins) each of those 4 days a week?

Does someone working 5 days a week also work 35 hours a week?  (I'm guessing so because you refer to "compressed hours".)

The easiest way to manage it is to convert your annual leave into hours instead of days.

    ie 25 days leave +8 BH = 33 days leave/year
    5 day/week worker works 35hr/5 days = 7 hours/day
So annual leave allowance in hours is 7x33 = 231 hours

So a 5 day a week worker would use 7 hours leave to take a (working) day off
While you would use 35hr/4 days = 8.75 hours leave to take a (working) day off
