Am in the process of sorting out my debt relief order with stepchange and am giving them information, I am a southwark  council tenant and have arrears on my rent of £200 and am going to give a extra £10-15 a month to pay it off but stepchange want to include rent arrears in debt relief order and want me to contact council and ask if my tenancy is at risk if it’s included in debt relief order, I am beyond stressed and hate talking to people on the phone but just want to know if council can evict me?

Your rent arrears can be included in the DRO, but if you want to stay living where you are, you will still have to pay them.

That is the catch 22 where rent arrears and debt relief orders are concerned.

Its a priority debt, so stop paying your non priority ones and make the rent arrears a priority.
