OH used to get through a cartridge every week. Now they last about 10 weeks. Have saved a fortune across the years.

My OH has a couple of the replaceable blade shavers and is currently working out which of the recommended blades is suitable.
    - he spent months watching and reading reviews to pick the selection to try, some were ruled out on first use.

He also has a couple of, what I call, cut throats. Not sure if he's tried them yet, although his head is still attached which may mean he hasn't.

He passed his old Gillette proglide to me a few years ago and hands down it's beat the disposables and I get ages out of one blade set thing.

I've tried a couple of the 'ladies' ones for a laugh, when on special offer, and they are useless. I've also tried the Aldi ones, but they were shelved for absolute emergencies, single blade BIC was better.

Absolute best results for me was when has asked to do my legs to try the soap, brush and his shaver. Results lasted longer.

Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

I use Wilkinson Hydro 5 which are usually on offer at Costco.

Each blade usually is good enough for 20 shaves or so as long as it’s rinsed and dried properly after each shave

I have tried other types and brands and just don’t seem to get on as well with them and end up removing as much skin as stubble

Why are women's razors so rubbish? I use the boots mens 3 blade razor with disposable blades and a shaving oil - which the OH also liked before he decided to go for a trimmer and "designer stubble".

@Emmia I dread to think what goes through makers heads when producing them. The blades seem like reject unsharpened metal!

Shaving soap is good, foam clogs, I'm currently working my way through a bottle of bubble bath.

I will see if my OH has shaving oil and give that a try.

Not MSE, but my preferred oil is the L'Occitane Almond shower oil. Previously I used king of shaves.

    Hair conditioner also works well.

@Emmia I never got on with using conditioner, but baby oil also works as does a budget coconut shampoo.
