Car Finance - Voluntary Termination query

  • No issues were noted when the car was serviced?
The garage cleared the warning lights and a week later they were back
  • Yeah, its 10 years old.  Try and find an engine from a running breaker, ebay they are £700-£1500, get that fitted and keep driving it until the finance is up.  Or keep paying the finance until its paid in full and sell it for spares/repair but in the meantime find a cheap car to drive.

Yea it's a diesel with special electrics garage quoted me £2700 for a used engine

Perhaps go back and have a discussion. Modern engines rarely simply blow up.

Maybe put the car on ebay? I got rid of a Corsa C whose engine went at 95k, we buy any car offered £50, put on ebay and sold to a bloke who's daughter had written front end of car off, but engine was fine, so he swapped it out, into mine. Got £1,500 for the car.
  • Modern engines don't just blow up. Was it a timing belt issue? If so, there may be some redress from the garage that did the last service.
