CoQ10 on prescription, anybody succeeded?

I'm a newbie to posting, so forgive me if I do/say anything wrong.
I have been supplementing with CoQ10 for years now, and it give me energy. However, as a result of divorce etc, I have run out of money - and its quite expensive. I have seen that it is possible for a GP to do this on prescription, but when I asked mine it was a straight "no" and he ended the conversation immediately. I know they can prescribe it (I saw on NHS Guidelines that it should never, under any circumstances, be prescribed for something (I forget what, memory totally shot) likely something like Statins), and I wonder if anyone has had any success with their GP re getting it on prescription.
It seems a shame that I am now circling the drain from exhaustion, when something so simple as an enzyme allows my body to access so much energy.
thanks in advance.

are you sure its available on prescription? can't find it in BNF. Their are often guidelines on side effects of non prescription drugs but does not mean that that drug is available on the NHS?1

It seems to only be listed for children, for some reason. CoQ10 varies a lot in price. Ubiquinone generally being much cheaper than Ubiquinol, and from what I’ve read, with similar efficacy.1

You will not get ubiquinone prescribed on the NHS for nebulous exhaustion. It is licenced only for treatment of certain inherited enzyme disorders in children. There is absolutely no good evidence of its benefit in other conditions.
I would suggest, perhaps, your symptoms of exhaustion may be more related to the stress and upheaval of divorce rather than a lack of what is essentially, a placebo.1 -
I am surprised that your GP did not suggest you make an appointment with them to check why you are so exhausted. I have been through a marriage break down and divorce and it is very stressful.
Although we on here are not supposed to give any medical advice at all to anybody, I hope it's not giving advice to ask if you have thought of making an appointment with your GP to discuss how you are feeling?
I may have said too much already and apologise if so but if it were me, I'd want to see a GP.

Tiredness/exhaustion are not problems in themselves they are symptoms of many different problems. You should see your GP for advice. A blood test may help diagnose some/one of the issues.
As an example I was really tired for a while and a blood test found B12 deficiency for which I have to have 3 monthly injections0 -

I never asked for ubiquinone - CoQ10 is further down the line, and cheaper as its considered "less bio-available" - the ordinary stuff works for me.
Plus, there's not likely to be any "good evidence" because it cannot be patented. Only thing is, it helps me. I have many, many, things wrong with me, and didn't want to go into them here when all I wanted was a guide as to whether anyone, anywhere, had succeeded in getting it prescribed by the GP. Clearly, nobody has.
I'll go back to eating heart.
btw - in Canada, the box with statins on it has "physician should also prescribe CoQ10" - because statins are known to reduce the body's ability to produce/use CoQ10.. I'm not, and never will be, on statins. But for energy, give me CoQ10 every time - no side effects just the extra energy to cope with the "nebulous exhaustion" - great choice of words - puts me down totally, just like my GP. Ah, are you a GP?
Anyway, so perhaps there is evidence it does "something"??0 -
