O/S Daily Wednesday 16 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 gone to for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy start to the day again, but forecast is for a warmer day than yesterday and the sky cleared and it was lovely sunshine all day. I have a wash load to peg out shortly.
Dinner last night was LO's pork braised in stock in the oven, which I then made into gravy, LO mash, veg and yorkshires. Tonight I'm thinking possibly fish or frittata with salad, jacket potato, coleslaw and potato salad - not sure which we will have yet.
Yesterday made a nice change as was on a course all day.but back to the more normal day today. Only working this morning, although they are having problems with the colleague who is supposed to be working this afternoon so I'm concerned that they won't turn up, but I won't be staying on to finish the day for them until closing - they have created this they need to sort it. Sorry if that sounds harsh but I'll help anyone out but after everything that's gone one I'm just going to do my job and that's it.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks, thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Yesterday the clearance men arrived on time and made swift work of the pile of unwanted things. They separated some things to go to a charity, things I thought wouldn't be wanted. I was very impressed with their work and attitude. The cleaner came and cleaned DM's room, she'll come back to do more on Thursday. The upstairs neighbour postponed his help until today so that gave me a breather until the burly blokes from the props company turned up to take away the horsehair three piece suite. The owner has promised to let me know when / if it gets used. Later a friend came for a coffee and chat. I'm still sorting DM's jewellery ready for uplift by the auction house. This morning I'm having breakfast with Alan then he'll help me shift around furniture to fill big empty spaces and put the big wardrobe back in the now empty bedroom. This evening number one nephew is arriving. After almost three years of inertia I'm now running at full speed though only for a short time.My thoughts are with our poorlies, I hope you feel at least a little better. Happy Wednesday to all.11 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC. You are being sensible not to get drawn into work dramas, it causes more problems and sometimes ill feeling.Hester, I was sorry to read about your car being vandalised, awful isn't it. Hope you can get it sorted. It's infuriating, and so pointless. A few years ago we seemed to have a spell of car vandalising on our side of the street, tyres stabbed, wipers and wing mirrors damaged, it seemed to happen late at night or in the early hours.DP1, your granddaughter is hilarious, funny little thing!Yesterday was an ok day, hospital appointment didn't take long, it was just routine - I have osteoporosis but can't take the bone forming tablet every week because I have oesophageal damage and the tablet is acidic, so could cause further damage. Anyway I have a bone forming implant in my arm twice a year, just an injection.Once home I tidied up and sorted through some drawers, and chucked a few bits and pieces out.We went to our quiz last night, for the first time since last year, and really enjoyed it, it was so good to see everyone.Today I really should do some ironing before the little pile gets out of hand - it has a nasty habit of becoming a big pile seemingly overnight, don't know how.I was going to go to the Metrocentre at some point, might do that tomorrow, I don't know if I can be bothered today, I didn't have much sleep last night. It must have been the excitement of going out!Anyway I'll stop boring on, and wish everyone a good Wednesday - take care folks14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I'm with you on the work problem, let them sort it, they caused it. GERS I am worn out reading all that you achieve each day. I hope the fine wine is chilling for the arrival of your DN tonight!!
Yesterday afternoon was lovely and I couldn't waste that sunshine so I was out with my book for a couple of hours. I could live with this weather all year round (must be my Mediterranean ancestry) The pots got watered whilst I was out just in case we don't get the thunderstorms that are forecast for later this evening!
It's bus trip day today but only two of us this time. Our other friend has a telephone appointment with her Cardiologist and wanted to be at home for that rather than tripping about. She says if he rings very early she might still be able to join us but not holding her breath on that. I don't know where we will end up today but we don't have a vast choice of buses to chose from sadly. Wherever it is there will be the usual wine and dine lunch involved! That's the highlight of the day!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those with worries and woes. Take care one and all xx

Morning All
Pouring down this morning - at least I won't have to water the garden!
Sorry to hear your car was vandalised HH, don't know what's wrong with folk.
Slow down Gers! Enjoy your time with your nephew.
Love your little DGD dp1.
Off for another busy day at work, can't see me getting everything finished by the end of term but miracles can happen. I have a hundred and one lists at work, must get on with things today.
Hope you all have a good Wednesday, take care. XX11 -
Morning all! Sunny! I was kind of bad yesterday in that I did make it to a garden center and I did relieve myself of some sponduliks...I bought a Mock Orange, beautiful smell! A small perennial, don't know what it is though, couple of pots which is why I went, and lastly, a apple tree because it looked sad. I also bought a little solar water pump online so now I have a very small water feature, made out of a painted cast iron trough. And nearly everything is in a pot now except the white jasmine which needs potting on. Today is supposed ot be hotter than yesterday so I'll sit in the garden and do nothing and listen to water trickling [and then eventually have to keep coming in and out because it'll make me want to pee of course...]Today, not sure, I have another online thing tonight, I should go and see if I can book my car in for some work needed and I still haven't fitted the light fitting. It's just going to be a pottering kind of day.TA, enjoy your trip out. Gers, the end will come eventually and you'llbe back in your home before long. Scarlet, glad you enkoyed your quiz, poo to the osteoporosis. dumpling, well done for going out and trying
nanny, you'll get a job as a gardener before long..not sure about Mr Fixit though, he might have changed his moniker to Mr Mostly Fixit
snoozer, enjoy your time away! csarina, good that she referred him, sometimes they just think something is routine so don't bother investigating..Right you lovely lot, go and enjoy what sunshine there is today unless you don't like it, in which case, winter is not far away!!

Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers - remember to take breaks, you will wear yourself out!!
Lovely sunny morning, rain forecast for later, I got my neighbour to hang up the two baskets for me, I could not lift them, they were too heavy, need watering everyday, so said neighbour will come in and water then for us, DB has also told them to pick the strawberries if they are ripe. We are picking everyday now. Strawberries in our cornflakes and for dessert each night.
Coffee at the little chapel, taking the two finished cushions with me out of the way, have more squares cut out for Little Miss's quilt which I will get on with when we get home from our little jaunt.
The place we are going to has a very good write up, so we are looking forward to it, a bit of luxury for a change. DB was looking at places to visit whilst we are there. I cannot walk too far, but have my walking pole in the car, it should help. We are hoping to visit a garden, the write up says there are plenty of seats to sit and enjoy the garden, just my cup of tea!!
Supper tonight is quiche and salad, I guess there will be strawberries for dessert, possibly with ice cream.9 -

Morning all
Another lovely day in store but storms due later I hope tonight is more bearable for sleep as I seemed to toss and turn all night.
Will get the dogs to the park this morning for a gentle walk its too hot for chasing the ball too much, we will then take them over the fields later when its cooler.
Going to get my nails done later on which I always enjoy my nail lady and I always have a good chat and a good laugh.
Not sure about dinner tonight I will go and have a look after this something and salad I suspect.
Must dash as running late today.
Have good days all xx
