Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2

Options
I bought a pair of these for £159.96 and thy were delivered on 16/11/2020.  I record all my runs on Strava and I have done and have done an average of approximately two 10K runs per week since.  I now have two issues with the shoes were the material has split.  I will show photos below.  Shall I just buy a new pair of shoes or take issue that I am having problem after just six months? I would expect these shoes to last 12 monthes.

  • Considering it's only been 6 months since you've got the shoes, I would definitely contact whichever site you got them off and ask either for a refund or a new pair of shoes because these shoes are meant to last not break in 6 months of having them. I would expect a £160.00 pair of shoes to last at least 12 months if not longer, even though you are running a lot a week these shoes are meant to be compatible with that and last whatever distance you run. Definitely contact the seller and see what they can do for you!
  • Pegasus Turbo 2's are supposed to be a fast training shoe rather than an out-and-out racing shoe, so I'd hope to get more than 560k out of them (which is what I come to as a "back of an envelope" calculation).  I usually aim to run 800km in a pair of trainers, though they are usually pretty 'spent' by then.

However the heel issue can be down to how you take them off.  If you use the toe of one foot to push the heel off the other, then you're pulling at a weak point where the two foam layers are glued together.

The forefoot issue just looks like poor construction to me.

Given the shoes are about 75% used I doubt you'll get much redress, but no harm in trying!

I agree with both points.  The OP has probably done 300+ miles in them, and I have usually worn through the outsole of my shoes at the heel after about 400 miles.  I think it's generally accepted that running shoes have a life of 400 - 500 miles.

But nothing to lose by asking the supplier...
