O/S Daily Saturday 12 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy dull start but still very warm.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was pie, chips, mushy peas and gravy for the menfolk. I had fish, LO mash and veg. Tonight will be picky bits, I also have a fresh pizza, sweet chill chicken skewers, salad and new potatoes etc.
Yesterday I was productive and got done what I needed to, so will have a chilled weekend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.My moment of joy yesterday was meeting the gardener and she said 'yes'. 🎉🎉 She wasn't fazed by the overgrown state that my garden is in. I'm so relieved. I enjoyed the brief night at home too but came back to Glasgow almost immediately. I'd taken a load of my stuff up with me. Once there I treated myself to a wee takeaway, lit the wood burner and sat with my feet up in the evening.Waiting back here was a letter from HMRC about DM, just a holding one but it's the first response to the Tell us Once service I've received. The other day I did a live web chat with the council as I was worried about council tax, at least now I know about the 12 months exemption.I'll do a little light shopping this morning and take some things to a CS, later on Alan is coming again to tackle more stuff. Think it'll be the freezer and the pantry. Some tins can go to a food bank but most are out of date.If Nels spa opens up I'd like to join in. Happy Saturday to everyone.12

Morning all
Lovely bright sunny day here and already warm I have the towels on a hot wash and will hang them out later, I gave the utility room a really good clean through yesterday so its all sparkling for now with clean skirting boards
This morning I am waiting in for a delivery I am super excited, I have quite a thing for bowls and have quite a collection including an original TG Green mixing bowl , I have amased quite a collection and have got lots of lovely ones, atm they are all in a large drawer in the kitchen, so I have used my Birthday money and treated myself to a large cabinet with glass doors, there is a space for it just off the kitchen through an arch so I can finally display them and they will be in a handy place to use, OH will put it together for me and fix it to the wall and I shall spend a happy afternoon displaying them (I am easily pleased )
I will empty the dw and tidy through downstairs while I am waiting, and there is another wash to go on.
We will possibly bbq tonight so will get some bits out of the freezer.
I too am hoping Nels will open the spa today I could do with dipping my feet in the pool.
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Well that's my excitement of the day over. I toddled down for the 8.45 bus into town, had a quick browse in Savers, Poundland and the cheapo frozen shop and got the 9.40 bus back up. I got a few bits in each of them, although I didn't need much as my Tesco delivery yesterday was all p & c.
No plans for the rest of the day but if this nippy little wind drops I shall no doubt end up in the garden reading and water the pots when the sun goes down. I had a much better sleep last night but don't feel much perkier for it. I still feel half doped. I thought the trip into town might wake me up a bit but it didn't. I too think I am in need of NELS' spa opening!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those with worries and woes. GERS good news about the gardener! Take care one and all xx

Morning All
Glad to hear you managed a trip home Gers and that the Gardener says yes!
Your bowls sound great Ruby, I love vintage crockery (drives the kids mad!) That's the only thing I ever go into a charity shop for.
I feel the same this morning TA, can't seem to get going.
Work has been beyond busy this week, including some children isolating and one positive case in school, the end of term stuff doesn't help with the workload and my two colleagues are faffing about doing not much, thought I was going to have a meltdown at one point.
I cleaned the house from top to bottom as DS1 and the DGC were coming with DS1's GF. I've met her before but not for long - wanted to make a good impression! Anyway, turns out DGS has been tracked and traced to a positive case in his nursery so they are at home. Thankfully they hadn't set off before they heard but I am left with a fridge full of food! Managed to get some of it in the freezer, DD and the little one are coming this afternoon so some of it will be used up.
Managed a couple of swims too this week - always helps me calm down. This morning I've been to buy magazines to send to the DGC, posted them off then watered the allotment. Although it hasn't been very sunny this week it has been quite dry. Washing on the line - I've managed to dye the whole of the white wash blue (new micro swim towel), thankfully mostly undies and socks and a couple of once white towels!
I'm on my way Nelski, hope that water is warm!
Have a happy Saturday, take care. XX9 -
Ooooh - Nels, that pool is lovely. I can bring cool drinks and crunchy crisps for after my soak.I've been to the tip with recycling stuff and then a CS with some kitchen equipment. I treated myself to a lovely sandwich, made with foccia, from the Italian cafe, think it's really the bread I like the most. Now I'm catching up with paperwork before Alan arrives and starts the heavy work. What a shame about DS1 - all that time hanging about now.TA - you've been up and at them!9

Afternoon everyone
Little one stayed last night - had a panic as she caught her tube when I was putting her to bed and the whole thing came out. DD came straight up to put a new one in - it has to be done quickly otherwise it would mean a trip to Newcastle to the hospital.
It meant she was later getting settled, so didn't wake up till about 7.30 this morning. We walked along to the post office this morning and then called and had coffee at M and S with mam and dad. Little one was sitting nicely when mam decided to ask her if she wanted out of the highchair....silly woman...she was hardly going to say no!
Later we went down to our nearest cafe with DD - we were both very healthy and had one of their lovely salads. Little one went home with her mummy and I ironed, pottered about outside and now I'm going to sit and read. Its warm here but quite windy...I'm sitting just inside the back door for shelter.
Hope everyone is enjoying nice fine weather too8 -

Camelot I collect vintage kitchen equipment as well I have a fair collection including an enamel funnel which I picked up at a boot sale in Nice and an old tin French lunch box, oh and one of those vintage cows which I think were made for cream, they have a hole in the mouth which the cream comes out when you tip it up, and lots of other bits, OH knows to look out for things at the boot sale as well.7 -
