Is it ok to cancel direct debits before debt relief order in place.

I have sent off my paperwork to stepchange regarding my debt relief order on Wednesday via special delivery and it was delivered Thursday and am waiting for the barcode to pay the £90 fee is it ok to now start to cancel my direct debits to creditors?

You should have done that already, as regardless of the outcome with the DRO, its obvious you cannot service your debts.
One of the first steps to regaining control over your finances, is cancelling the DD`s to your creditors, so normal payments cannot be taken, you should also back that up with a letter explaining your situation.
